This episode is the second in our collector conversation series as we sit down with our Redbar Cincy friend Dustin, a Cincinnati native and avid collector. We chat with Dustin about how he got his start in watches (a juicy fruit watch at around age 6) his first watch (a Tissot) and the watch that got him hooked (an omega seamaster chronograph). We then dive into his passion for independent watchmaking, and the direction his collection has shifted recently. His collection currently includes DeBethune, Sarpaneva, and Gronefeld. We also talk about how during the pandemic, watches have been a much needed source of joy for the collecting community. How the people in the hobby make sitting at a computer screen talking about tiny mechanical pieces of art we wear to tell the time an enjoyable experience. Don't worry, we also talk about the Travel Clock, the effects of social media and internet culture on our society, and how in the grand scheme of things it really doesn't matter.
