Description

Unlike in other states, convicted felons in Colorado who have completed parole are allowed to vote. New laws require people leaving the criminal justice system to learn about their voting rights and give parolees the chance to pre-register. A bipartisan coalition is behind those changes, but how far is it willing to go toward re-enfranchising people within the criminal justice system?

Florian Glatz: Defining a Legal Framework for Decentralized Autonomous Organizations (DAO): The relatively new concept of a Decentralized Autonomous Organization (DAO), is often praised as a new type of organizational structure that has no identifiable owner or owners, and whose actions are automated and determined solely by a pre-defined set of rules. Views on DAOs differ widely. On one hand, members of the Bitcoin/blockchain space often portrayal them as AI-like swarm organisms, free from the shackles of nation-states, and that can act at will regardless of laws or regulation. How Conservatives Should View Obamacare Ruling and the Role of the Judiciary Ep. 322: Conservatives were greeted with euphoric political news late Friday when a Texas judge ruled Obamacare is unconstitutional. This is a great potential political victory, but is this the sort of legal outcome we believe in as supporters of constitutional supremacy over judicial supremacy? This is a complicated question with multiple principles, facts, and outcomes being true at the same time. Judge Reed O’Connor was justified in issuing this ruling based on precedent in the higher courts on rules of standing and severability. However, I don’t agree with these precedents, and I think we need to tighten up the rules on these practices, irrespective of the outcome, because they violate Article III.
