Description

Year 4 of the Tom Herman era has not played out quite the way the Longhorns and UT faithful envisioned leading up to the 2020 season. Texas cracked the Top 10 after the first two games on the year, and then hit a wall, dropping back-to-back games to TCU and Oklahoma, leading to a cloud of doom starting to brew over the football program and Herman's future in Austin. But three straight wins, including a Top 10 victory over then-No. 6 ranked Oklahoma State, has helped open the doors to a potential late season Big 12 title run for Texas, if the team can win down the final three-game stretch of the season.
The question is, will the Longhorns rise to the challenge following the open date to complete their script-flipping turnaround?
On the bye week edition of The Flagship Podcast, Horns247 columnist Chip Brown and managing editor Taylor Estes examine the state of the Texas program as the Longhorns enter the third open date on the schedule coming off a three-game winning streak. The hosts weigh in on the progression of the linebacker position in recent weeks and the defense seeming to be more in a groove following the 17-13 win over West Virginia. The Flagship also addresses the injury news for punter Ryan Bujcevski and how the Longhorns will handle punting duties moving forward with kicker Cameron Dicker taking over for the injured Bujcevski.
The Flagship then shifts focus to Love it or Leave it, with this week's topics including the issues that have recently reared in the passing game for the Texas offense, why it's time for the coaches to let true freshman RB Bijan Robinson loose to help the struggling offense and pose a question to the listeners as the Longhorns appear to have their Big 12 title goals still within reach after the up and down start to the season.
Catch all of that and more on this week's episode of The Flagship Podcast.
