Description

Boris is currently an integrative biology doctoral student at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton, Florida. He studies Temperature Sex Determination (TSD) in sea turtles, and has discovered a revolutionary new way to tell the sex of young sea turtles, one that doesn’t involve invasive surgery. His new method will help researchers better protect sea turtles in the face of climate change. Originally hailing from Venezuela, Boris has been in the US since his teenage years, and grew up fishing with his parents where his interest in the water began. In this episode we chat about Boris’s non-lab related hobbies, how you can be a marine biologist without even realizing it, and about his award-winning sea turtle research. For the full show notes and for links to connect with Boris and his research, please visit Ever wondered what it takes to become a marine biologist?  This quick episode covers the very basic answer to this question.
