Could the Florida Gators successfully block the Miami Hurricanes from joining the SEC? Braden Keith has reported that Florida is blocking Miami from potentially leaving the ACC for the SEC because they don’t want those recruiting battles to intensify. Others, including Pat Forde, have hinted that multiple schools in the SEC could try and block Miami. Why would they do this?
Host Alex Donno theorizes that since so many SEC schools recruit talent from South Florida, they don’t want to lose the advantage they have over Miami by being in the top football conference. If they can’t sell to players that they are in a superior conference to the one Miami is in, they lose a major advantage in the recruiting battles they fight directly with Mario Cristobal. However, Alex cautions that any reports we see at the moment about conference realignment are not likely reliable, since there is so much conflicting information being presented day after day. 
Donno recaps a tough Friday in recruiting, where a pair of Miami targets chose to commit elsewhere. 5-star receiver Jalen Brown chose LSU while 4-star athlete Collins Acheampong picked Michigan. Donno expects a light at the end of the tunnel, though. 5-star edge rusher Jayden Wayne is announcing his commitment on Friday evening and is expected to choose the University of Miami! If he picks Miami, the Canes should have a top 5 recruiting class by the end of the weekend.
