Description
Flor de Toloache has set out to break barriers and enlighten it's listeners with impeccable musical talent. We sit down with vocalist/violinist Mireya Ramos, vocalist/vihuelist Shae Fiol and vocalist/trumpeter Julie Acosta at Highland Park's Lodge Room just before hitting the stage to discuss how the band started, the challenges of being a female mariachi and how their camaraderie has enhanced not only their musical skills, but their personal lives.
Seeing Flor de Toloache live is a true joy! Having performed at Coachella and an NPR Tiny Desk concert, this New York-based Latin GRAMMY-winning ensemble is one of the best all-female mariachi bands on the planet, with "a performance style that captures all the power and excitement you can expect "(NPR Music). The group is named after the delirium-inducing Mexican flower used as a love potion for generations. And trust us, you'll definitely fall in love with these talented musicians!
