Description

In this episode Steve talks about the Pro's and Con's of using the Ball Screen with your program. This episode is not for or against ball screens. It is simply to allow you as a coach to ask yourself a few questions on if the ball screen is something you should use more or less with your team. I hope you enjoyed this podcast and it gave you something to think about.
Talking Points:
Pro's
1. It's versatile. The ball can be  in your best decision makers hands, while allowing for movement within the offense. It can also become an equal opportunity offense. providing both structure and flow.
2. Guarding multiple ball screens forces the defense to make mistakes.
3. Consistency of going over ball screen reads, help gives your players the answer to the test before the test
4. It allows for different skill sets to succeed.
5. Easier to attack the switch or mismatch
Con's
1. Are most teams using it?
2. Ball handling skills and decision making are a requirement.
3. Need screeners that can read the defense and are unselfish.
4. Need players off the ball who know how to space and read the ball screen as well of off ball defenders.
WHY: if everyone is doing it, are you becoming easier to scout by doing it as well?
