Description
It is not fun or cool to be excited about a new job just to start and find out it is terrible.
Sometimes we can avoid it.
Other times we can't, people are really good liars.
Questions to help assess culture fit:
Ask all the people you interview with why they like working for the company
If you talk to people who will be on the team you'll be working on, ask them to describe the team dynamics
Research
Go through your network, do you know anyone who works / worked there?
Make sure you get to meet/interview with the right people (future manager, peers, people you'll partner with, etc.)
Know what culturally hasn't been a fit for you and ask professional questions around those specific items
Don't be afraid to ask follow up questions to answers in number 6
Peer question - what's on thing you would change in your role and why
Stay or go?
It depends!
How bad is it
Benefits to staying?
How miserable are you?
How long has it been?
Confidence in avoiding this in your next role?
