In this segment we look at an innovative program created to help teens develop greater understanding, appreciation and the ability to collaborate with people who are different. These skills are increasingly important, as our teens enter a world that is likely to be much different than the communities in which they were raised.
Maureen Costello, Teaching Tolerance Director, is an education professional with a mix of academic, publishing and business experience, Maureen has directed several national education initiatives. Before arriving at the SPLC, she oversaw development of the 2010 Census in Schools program for Scholastic Inc. in partnership with the U.S. Census Bureau.
