I used to be dead broke. Regardless of what I did, I couldn’t seem to get ahead. Whenever money came my way, I would find a way to get rid of it. Quickly. Not a penny was saved. Not more than a minimum payment was made. And no matter how badly I thought I wanted to be financially free, I always found a way to sabotage yet another once-promising entrepreneurial endeavor. I was on autopilot. Money come, money go.  Then, on November 29th, 2008, I learned what I still consider to be the most important concept I’ve ever come across.  I learned about my hierarchy of values and how everything in my life — my successes and my sabotages — was a direct reflection of what I valued most and what I valued least. The truth is, I was broke because I placed a low value on finances and wealth building.  It’s funny, I’ve never had a difficult time getting my butt to the gym. Nor have I ever needed any outside motivation to read books and teach others what I learned. But when it came to making money, I couldn’t seem to stay motivated.  How about you? What do you do that requires no outside motivation? Where do you stay organized? What do spend your money on? Where are you most disciplined and focused? How do you spend your time?
