Description
I have a philosophy on life. It’s a simple philosophy. Pretty darn basic, in fact. It goes like this … “Little by little, a little becomes a lot.” I stumbled upon this quote in a fitness book when I was about 27 years old. Back then, I wanted to be the world’s most renowned strength and conditioning coach. But I wanted it to happen overnight. I wanted it now. But there was something about that “little by little” quote that shifted my perspective on not only what I thought was my calling at the time, but about life in general. I thought, if I put in the work, if I did the little things every day, then in due time those little things would add up and get me to where I wanted to be. Every day I could move myself closer to the goal … or not move closer to the goal. The choice was mine. As I mentioned at the end of QOD #007, if you were to commit to reading just one hour a day, every day, you’d accumulate a little over nine 40-hour weeks of reading in a year’s time. Just one hour! So consider that thing you’ve been keeping yourself from doing because you think you “don’t know enough.” Would you still not know enough if you studied it for 1 hour a day, 365 hours in a year, or nine 40-hour weeks? The truth is, you’d probably know more about your topic of study than 99 percent of the population. Little by little, you’d become an expert. Or, you could not do the little things every day and stay exactly where you are. Like I said, it’s a simple philosophy. On today’s episode of The Quote of The Day Show, the late Jim Rohn talks about the power of adopting your own personal philosophy. “The formula for success is a few simple disciplines practiced every day.” Today’s QOD clip comes from Mr. Rohn’s audio program, The Art of Exceptional Living, available for instant mp3 download at www.nightingale.com. Please support Nightingale. Without them we wouldn’t have a show. Thanks! See you tomorrow with Les Brown (he’s back!). Happy Monday, Sean
