Description

Ree Lodge (@reallyree) and her website www.reallyree.com are the 'breaking news' of beauty. If it's launching, it's on her site, which is about to undergo a massive redesign, and being first, thorough and correct is of paramount importance to Ree. In this episode Ree talks to me about the early days of Really Ree, of joining twitter on a whim, writing blog posts, but also what life had looked like before she dominated the beauty news arena. She talks to me about her career in recruitment, where you could argue her competitive nature was born, and why she went from a high-paid job into a passion role and how she's gone on to monetise the latter. It's a really robust conversation where we cover topics including self-preservation, the idea of luck, guilt, motivation and she shares a brilliant piece of advice for anyone going after what they want in life: “You haven’t failed unless you give up.” — Ree Also in this episode... It was a busy week in beauty and among other things I went to the launch party for Real Techniques new collection Powder Bleu launching July 2017 - a new variety of brushes designed to be used with powder. The six-piece collection includes a Soft Complexion Brush, £22, a Soft Powder Brush, £22, Soft Finishing Brush, £22, Soft Shader Brush, £15, Soft Kabuki Brush, £25 and Plush Powder Puff, £12. The event was held in the Blue Room at The Curtain Hotel in Shoreditch and hosted by Sam Chapman and Nic Haste Chapman and included readings from the Psychic Sisters and entertainment from Britain's Got Talent Finalists DNA. The food from Red Rooster was next-level and reminded me of Hart of Dixie, which is never a bad thing.  There are certain events that are just joyful and hanging out with Sam and Nic is always such a pleasure (listen to their podcast here) but also some of my favourite beauty colleagues; Sali Hughes, Nadine Baggott, Really Ree, Madeleine Spencer, Claire Coleman, Jo Glanville-Blackburn and many more... Broken washing machine is making me seriously consider the value of The Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up by Marie Kondo.  Powder Bleu for Real Techniques. Hart of Dixie on iTunes. The Life-Changing Magic of Tidying Up on Amazon. With beauty colleagues Sali Hughes and Nadine Baggott. For information regarding your data privacy, visit acast.com/privacy
