About this ebook
“You shouldn’t be here, you're the Alpha King and Liam's uncle.” I managed to say, trying to resist his touch.
He chuckled deeply, “You forgot one more thing” he said simply, brushing his thumb over my lower lips.
“What is that?” I whispered almost inaudibly.
“I'm also your mate.” He murmured, leaning towards me.
“What do you want from me?” I asked, feeling so confused.
“Isn't it obvious?” He asked with a smirk,
“I want you.”

To her shock, she discovers her passionate night was spent with her ex-mate's uncle, the Alpha King, Alpha Knox Blackwood, who is also her second chance mate.
Knox however is not willing to let her go. He has had a taste, and wants her for himself.
Knox offers her a second chance — an opportunity to leave her past as an omega behind, and she quickly accepts.
However, there are so many people not happy about this, and Knox has a dark secret.
What happens when their dark pasts rise up to haunt them?

Chapter 56
Aria's POV
Unknown to me, there was a hidden door, right where I had placed my ear to listen. So as I moved to leave, I mistakenly pressed the button that opens the hidden door, and because part of my body was still leaning on the door, immediately the door opened, I fell through it, and into the hidden room.
A loud growl resounded through the room, and I froze in fear, too scared to even move to see what it was. The sound of large footsteps coming closer to me, caused me to finally raise my head to see what was coming towards me.
I gasped in horror as I stared at the largest wolf I had ever seen in my life. Its fur was as black as midnight, and it looked as if shadows and smoke were wrapped around its body.
It took a step closer, growling menacingly at me. I trembled, unable to move or speak. My mind screamed at me to run, but my body betrayed me, paralyzed by fear.
This is it, I thought to myself. This is how I die.
Oh, please save me, moon goddess. I cannot die like this.
~
The large wolf stalked closer to me, and I stumbled backwards, desperate to escape.
The wolf's crimson eyes gleamed, and my heart raced in fear.
I was finally able to scramble to my feet, and I was about to run, when something made me stop. I paused with a frown.
Crimson eyes…..
My heart skipped a beat, as I looked back at the wolf, recognizing those eyes. It couldn’t be… but the more I stared at those eyes, the more realization dawned on me. I knew those eyes.
Knox?
I called softly, my voice shaking.
The wolf growled furiously, stalking towards me, its red eyes gleaming in anger.
I forced myself to calm down, even though all I wanted to do was flee and never look back.
Not Knox then, so what's your name?
I asked, trying to keep my voice steady.
The wolf tilted its head at me with an unreadable expression in its eyes.
I felt stupid for asking the wolf for his name, as though he could talk, but Knox had never told me the name of his wolf. Hell, Knox had never told me anything about his wolf, except that his wolf was bloodthirsty.
I forced myself to stay still when I noticed the wolf walking closer to me. It towered over me, with those shadows dancing around it, and I could see that its large fangs were wickedly sharp.
The wolf gently lowered itself, till it was flat on the ground, as if it was trying to make itself look less threatening.
I hesitated for a moment before I placed my hand on its large head. Forcing myself not to cringe when the darkness danced around my hand.
‘Mate’ A voice echoed in my head, and I flinched, snapping my hand back in shock.
What was that?
I stared at the wolf in shock. Was that you?
I asked in disbelief, and the wolf nodded its large head in confirmation.
I blinked in shock. I glanced at my hand, and back at the wolf, contemplating.
The wolf whined, staring at me with pleading eyes. I hesitated again, before I placed my hand on its head again.
‘Fenrir’ the same voice echoed in my head, and I stared at the wolf's eyes.
Your name is Fenrir?
I asked out loud in surprise, and he nodded.
I smiled warmly, and this time it was genuine. It was a befitting name.
Nice to finally meet you, Fenrir. I'm Aria.
‘Aria.’ Fenrir repeated, and I nodded.
Chapter 57
Aria's POV
I didn’t know how long I stayed with Fenrir, gently stroking his massive head. He made a low, rumbling sound in his chest of contentment.
‘Mate,’ his voice echoed in my head, and a smile spread across my lips.
Yes, Mate.
I replied fondly.
The dark shadows that danced around his fur seemed to get calmer as I stroked his head.
His crimson eyes that had terrified me a few minutes ago were now watching me with a warm gaze.
I didn’t see Fenrir as the bloodthirsty creature Knox had warned me about. He felt… familiar, and he made me feel safe. You’re not so bad, are you?
I whispered softly with a soft smile.
Fenrir rumbled again, his eyes softening.
‘Mate,’ his voice echoed in my head again,
Yes, Mate.
I replied with a nod.
However, he shook his head.
‘Mate,’ he said again.
I furrowed my eyebrows. He was trying to tell me something, but I couldn't quite understand because his vocabulary was limited.
‘Mate. Mine.’ His voice growled in my head.
Yes, your mate.
I replied slowly, but he still shook his head, growling in frustration. He stood up from the floor abruptly, and began pacing the room. The dark shadows were also getting agitated.
What are you trying to tell me?
I asked softly, taking slow steps towards him to avoid startling him.
Fenrir let out a deep growl, and he became even more frantic. The dark shadows around his fur moved violently, as though they were being affected by his frustration. His large paws stomped the ground, and I could feel the vibrations under me.
Fenrir!
I called out in worry.
His growling turned into an agonized moaning. I had never heard anything like that before. It was full of so much pain that my heart ached for him.
He stopped pacing, and his body shook as though he were fighting something within himself.
Fenrir, what's wrong?
I rushed forward instinctively, but I froze when I saw that his form was changing.
The shadows around him grew darker, and his body began to change. He released another cry of pain. His crimson eyes met mine for a moment, and my heart clenched. He was desperately trying to tell me something with his eyes.
Fenrir…
I whispered, wishing that I could help him in any way. I watched as he began to shrink, his fur changed to skin, and the shadows faded away.
In a few moments, I was no longer staring at the large terrifying wolf, Fenrir, but at Knox. He was lying on the ground, drenched in sweat and panting heavily.
I hesitated, taking a step closer. Knox?
His head turned weakly toward me, and his gray eyes met mine.
What…what are you doing here?
He queried, still breathing heavily.
I…I…
I stammered, forgetting what had brought me here.
Knox pushed himself up, groaning as he stood up. What are you doing here, Aria?
He asked with a frown.
My face flushed slightly when I noticed that he was completely naked, and I gulped.
I—
Do you know how dangerous it is for you to be here?
He scolded, and his eyes darkened.
You could have gotten hurt or worse!
He snapped.
‘Here he goes again.’ The voice whispered in my head. ‘Trying to make you look like you can't do anything on your own.’
I ignored the voice.
Knox continued. You don’t understand the risks, Aria! Fenrir is—
He paused, clenching his fists. He’s not safe. He’s dangerous. You shouldn’t have been here!
Annoyance flared within me, but I decided not to allow it to control me this time. I folded my arms across my chest, taking a deep breath.
I wasn’t trying to get hurt, Knox,
I said softly but firmly. I was looking for you, to apologize for snapping at you earlier. I didn’t even know this room existed until I accidentally found it.
That’s not the point!
he snapped, his voice rising. His eyes flashed crimson for a moment before returning to gray.
Then what is the point?
I asked with a frown. That I’m supposed to be afraid of Fenrir? That when I see him, I should run the other way? Is that your point?
I asked.
Yes,
he growled out.
No,
I replied firmly, and he furrowed his eyebrows in disbelief.
Wha—
No,
I repeated firmly. "I won’t be afraid of Fenrir. Just as I am not afraid of you.
He clenched his fists, and his jaw tightened. Aria, you don’t understand—
I understand,
I interrupted, I understand that Fenrir is part of you, Knox. And I understand that he’s not the monster you keep telling me he is.
Knox tensed, and he gave me a glare. He is a monster, Aria,
he said through gritted teeth. You’ve seen what he looks like, you don't know what he’s capable of. He’s bloodthirsty, violent, uncontrollable—
He’s not uncontrollable,
I cut in again, my voice softer now. Not with me. He was calm with me. He didn’t hurt me. He… he protected me, Knox.
Knox released a sigh of exhaustion. Why do you keep doing this, Aria?
I frowned in confusion. Doing what?
I keep trying to keep you safe, to keep you away from hurt and danger. But you keep running to it,
he said in frustration. Why can't you listen to me for once?
I gave him a small smile. Because you're my mate, not my father.
I said, repeating the words I had said earlier when we were in my room.
Knox's eyes darkened at my words.
Chapter 58
Aria's POV
I stepped closer to him, That’s the truth, Knox. I shouldn't have snapped at you earlier when I was trying to say it, but it's still the truth.
I said softly.
Knox watched me with an unreadable expression on his face, and he clenched his fists. Aria, you don’t get it. It’s not about controlling you, it’s about protecting you, keeping you alive. If something happens to you…
He trailed off, clenching his jaw.
And I appreciate that,
I replied gently. But I’m not a child, Knox. I need to make my own decisions. You can advise me on what you think is best for me, but it's left for me to make the remaining decision myself.
He opened his mouth to argue, but I stepped closer, placing a hand on his chest. Remember, we're mates, and equals.
Knox clenched his jaw, and he looked down at me with a scowl. You’re very stubborn, little angel.
I smiled, trying to lighten the mood. And you’re very overprotective. I guess we balance each other out.
For a moment, Knox just stared at me, with a blank expression. Then, with a sigh, he wrapped me in his arms.
I love you, my beautiful angel.
He murmured, and I smiled against his chest.
I love you too,
I replied softly.
.
You do know that you're still naked, right?
I said after a while, when I felt something poking me.
Knox chuckled lowly. Trust me, I’m very aware,
he said with amusement in his voice.
My cheeks burned, and I pulled back, Well, maybe you should do something about it,
I muttered, glaring at his teasing smirk.
Knox grinned with mischief sparkling in his gray eyes. Why? Are you uncomfortable, little angel?
No,
I replied with my face red, as I turned to leave.
Knox's hands wrapped around me from behind, and he pulled me back to himself with a small chuckle.
Really?
He murmured huskily into my ears. I could feel his hard length pressed against my lower back, and my breath hitched.
Knox…
I mumbled, and my voice shook as I placed my hands over his.
He chuckled softly, and his lips brushed against my ear. You’re blushing, little angel. I thought you weren’t uncomfortable.
I’m…I'm not,
I stammered, even as I turned redder.
He laughed heartily, finally releasing me from his hold as he stepped back.
I pushed down the disappointment I felt at the loss of his warmth. I took a deep breath to compose myself before I turned to face him. He still had a teasing grin on his face.
I need to go,
I announced, straightening my clothes, and keeping my gaze to the side to avoid meeting his amused gaze, and to avoid staring at his length.
Go where?
he asked, his grin fading slightly.
To the pack clinic, remember?
I replied, glancing up at him. I haven't gone yet because I needed to come see you first.
His eyes softened. Are you sure you can go today? Do you feel better?
He asked.
I nodded, giving him a reassuring smile. I think so. I might heal a lot slower than werewolves, but I'm better now.
Knox hesitated before he released a sigh, lifting his hands in surrender.
Alright, little angel.
He leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to my forehead before he stepped back. Go on, before I change my mind and decide to come with you.
I let out a small laugh, Alright, I'm going.
~
~
As I entered the pack clinic, I stood there for a moment, unsure of what to do. It was bustling with activity, with healers rushing from one place to another.
I would need to find the pack's head healer, but I had no idea who she was. Knox hadn't introduced me, or taken me round the pack clinic during
