    Your Journey of a Lifetime

    is about to begin.

    Chapter 1

    Healing Linda

I admit, I’m craving food and it’s all I can think about, Dumbley acknowledged.

I can’t wait to finish eating so I can do my favorite pastime, like taking a nap. When I wake up, I’ll take another snooze, Sticky muttered as he yawned. I’ve never worked so hard before in my life. Add one more nap to the list of naps. Whew, it’s tiring when I talk about all this sleep.

He continued. I’ll need another nap after the previous ones. I think it would be easier if you just woke me up next week. A dwarf I am not. I was born a lost, tired, and not ready to work on fences kind of elf.

Sticky, how would you like the honors of driving the wagon home? George asked. He watched as Sticky’s face quickly filled with shock before a slow smile took over.

If you really trust me, then I’d love to drive us back. I promise to go slow, said Sticky politely as he tried to hide his excitement.

George handed him the reins, and he gripped them tightly in his hands as if they were the only thing that kept him anchored. He raised his arms, ready to take off at breakneck speed. George stared at him with wide, horrified eyes.

I’m only kidding, said Sticky. He laughed when he lowered his hands and gave a gentle snap to the reins and said, Trot. The horses obeyed.

After an uneventful trip, the wagon rolled to a smooth stop in front of the George family’s home. The sound of hooves and wheels faded into the peaceful evening. Sticky sat tall and proud with a satisfied grin.

He thought to himself. I’m the bestest wagon driver anywhere. Somehow, he could hear Robyn saying to stop using that word. It’s not fair, I tell you, it’s not fair. She can’t possibly be in my head. It’s not right. It’s my head and I should be able to use any words I want. If I want to be the bestest, then I will be the bestest.

He could hear Robyn whispering in his head again. Stop using those words.

Get out! Get out of my head! Sticky screamed aloud.

Are you ok, what’s going on? Dumbley asked.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to yell out loud. My head was filled with crazy thoughts. I’m ok now.

The warm glow of lantern light spilled from the windows. It welcomed them to their final stop. As they climbed out of the wagon, Sticky couldn’t help but feel a sense of accomplishment for safely delivering his passengers home. His smile grew wider as he watched them eagerly step out onto solid ground after their journey.

"Good job, Sticky. I knew you could do it, and I’m glad I gave
