    Chapter 1:

    The night was heavy with the scent of jasmine and honeysuckle as Brooke walked home from her late shift at the library. She couldn't shake the feeling of being watched, but she chalked it up to her overactive imagination, a side effect of losing her sister, Paris, just a few months ago.

    The house was silent as she unlocked the front door and slipped inside. As she hung her jacket on the coat rack, she noticed a flickering light coming from Paris 's old bedroom. Curious, she ventured down the hallway, her heart racing.

    The light was coming from her mirror, and as she approached, she could hear a faint voice calling her name. Terror gripped her as she realized it was Paris 's voice. Shaking, she reached out and touched the mirror, feeling a strange tingling sensation course through her fingers.

    The voice grew louder, more insistent, as if Paris was trapped on the other side, desperately trying to reach her. Brooke backed away from the mirror, her breath coming in ragged gasps.

    She spent the rest of the night huddled in her bed, too afraid to sleep, listening to the distant sounds of the night and reliving the memories of her sister.

    It had been a horrible accident, she told herself, over and over again. There was no way Paris could still be alive. But the voice in her mirror, the strange occurrences around the house...she couldn't shake the feeling that something was very wrong.

    The next morning, Brooke forced herself to go to work. She couldn't keep hiding from the world forever, not if she wanted to honour Paris 's memory. As she sat at her desk, she found herself searching the internet for answers, anything that might explain what she had experienced last night. That's when she stumbled upon an ad for a local medium.

    Desperate for closure, she called the number and made an appointment for that evening. As the hours ticked by, she
