You Are the Glue
At the start of our adventure as we erred and strayed
Not one word of censure, nor disapproval by you was made
You waited and watched as we disappeared from view
But your invisible force returned us, lest we became frayed
You did it because you are the glue
As life progressed, and from our nests we wandered
Along many highways, we twisted and meandered
At all junctures you were aware, put simply, you knew
You mended our bodies and to our every whim you pandered
You reassembled us because you are the glue
At times our beliefs may have started to falter
No problem
you assured us as you applied the halter
You gently guided us back ’ere our lives went askew
And brought us before the heavenly altar
You repaired our faith because you are the glue
We came back to the fold, tails between legs
Contrition expressed as in supplication we begged
We confessed to becoming embroiled in a stew
Then you offered us a drink from the heavenly keg
A calming, relaxing yet intoxicating brew
When you hung from that cross, not once were you blue
You said, Forgive them Father for they know not what they do
You implored us all not to be sad or to crack
For on the third day, you proclaimed, I will be back
To redeem the world for, ’tis true, I am the glue
