Meet the Pet Sitters

Lina has a different animal t-shirt for every day of the week. Living next door to Gus the cat and down the street from her best friend Cassie means its easy to pet sit together. Lina will do her best to make sure everyone stays out of trouble… even Gus.

Gus might look like the grumpiest cat on the block, but if you give him a scratch behind the ears and call him 'adorable' he'll be your friend for life. Gus loves to complain when he thinks he's not getting enough attention. He might make a fuss, but he always saves the day.

Cassie loves to make things look 'purrrrfect'. She dances and twirls, and she'll decorate anything that will stay still long enough. As Lina's best friend and a Pet Sitter, Cassie's 'ready for anything'… even when things don't go to plan.

Billy Goat Boogie - Ella Shine

    Girls and Gus

    ONE

    Waiting For Winton

It was a beautiful, sunny day in Barefoot Springs and best friends Cassie and Lina were twirling on Lina’s front lawn.

Gus the grey and white cat grumbled beside them. ‘Why are we waiting out here?’ he asked.

‘Oh, you are adorable, Gus,’ laughed Cassie. ‘We’ve already told you: we’re waiting for Winton to arrive. We’re pet sitting him today.’

Gus licked his paws. ‘More pet sitting?’ he sniffed. ‘I don’t know why you keep looking after other animals when cats are the best at everything.’

When the girls were together, they could hear Gus talking, and they could talk back. No one else knew Gus was a talking cat!

Lina sat down to give him a pat. ‘We are the Barefoot Springs pet sitters, Gus. We look after people’s pets when they need us. And today, we’re looking after Winton the goat.’

‘A goat?’ groaned Gus. ‘A billy goat?’

‘Winton’s a lovely goat,’ Cassie said. ‘And look! There’s Paul’s truck.’

She pointed to the truck turning into Lina’s driveway. Paul was the Barefoot Springs librarian.

Lina burst out laughing. ‘Winton’s sitting in the front with Paul!’ she said.

    ‘That droopy-eared dog
