Short Stories From a Child's Mind - Joseph Gutierrez
Forward
The mind of a child is so incredibly special, filled with hopes, dreams, imagination unlike anything else. We were all children once and this child loved to write, read, and watch films and television. Thinking back to when I was about twelve years old or around 92’. A time that I used writing as an escape from the life I was living at that point which was often filled with hardship, negativity, and a difficult home life. Being that personal computers had not existed yet, handwriting my stories in a notepad, short stories for the most part but anytime a thought, an interest, a short story was written. I did stop writing around the age of thirteen and luckily, I was able to find many old stories from that time. A few years ago, I was clearing out my father’s garage when I found a stack of my short stories about to be thrown on, saving them. These stories give you the reader a pretty good item of imagination at the time filled with innocence, but also my love of horror having probably watched every horror movie, IT being one of favorites, the 90’s television version and of course all the horror movies of the ages. You may notice a common theme in my stories which relate to either running away or flying away which was no coincidence as that time in my life, I probably wish I had run away from the homelife I had at the time.
My hope and purpose of sharing these pieces of work is to put them in a way that they can never get lost and of course share them with the world. Story writing is still so important to our world, that encourages everyone to put pen paper or keyboard. As a father myself, I have personally witnessed my daughter’s writing and short stories remind me a great deal of my writing. This book is for all the little writers out who need to share and document those stories, because frankly we live in a world lost in originality and greatly need that and who is better than the uninhibited
