    The Building

    He worked in an old building. It was a hospital built back in the 1920s that had been converted into an office complex. Each patient room serving as a single office. The company had tried to fit each room with multiple desks and cubicle walls, but it never worked out. In the end everyone had the rooms to themselves. His was big enough to comfortably seat three other people at a guest table. As well as his desk that lined the opposite wall with more than enough space for lamps. It was the first time he had an office of his own, and the first time he was seated near a window. This one actually opened. It lifted up with weights that released a spray of old paint on the floor. It didn't seem that anyone had been hired to clean them in years since he could see streaks of old rain through the dust, but he didn't mind. Sometimes he would stand and try to make out the shapes on the street below through
