I extend my deepest gratitude to the numerous mentors, peers, and students who have guided me over the years, offering insights that were instrumental in steering the research direction and execution of this book.
My heartfelt thanks go to the dedicated professionals and educators with whom I have collaborated, particularly Dr. P.R. Datta and the Centre for Business & Economic Research (CBER), based in the United Kingdom, which published "A Handbook on the Future of Work and Entrepreneurship," giving rise to a continually expanding body of work. My appreciation also goes to my colleagues at Medgar Evers College, School of Business, for their unwavering support during my ten-year tenure as dean, a period during which my work significantly evolved in the areas of equity, workforce development, and entrepreneurship.
My family deserves special acknowledgment for their steadfast support and patience over the years, especially through the development process of this book.
I would also like to express my sincere appreciation to the Central Brooklyn Economic Development (CBED) Organization, which has empowered the voices of many residents it serves and stands as a beacon of innovation and self-determination. A special note of thanks goes to the CBED for their insightful contributions to ongoing community-academic partnerships, which will be spotlighted later in this book.

For several decades, my passion has driven me to bridge the gap in educational opportunities through economic development and social ventures. Fueled by my PhD in Economics from Howard University, I've actively pursued solutions to real-world challenges, proposing and implementing impactful initiatives.
My journey has been rich with diverse experiences. From a tenure with the US government to a pivotal role at IBM where I honed my skills in large-scale systems planning and executive leadership education, I've gained a comprehensive understanding of complex systems and strategic execution.
As Dean of the School of Business at Medgar Evers College within CUNY, I leverage this experience to empower individuals and communities. The School’s global engagement has been nothing short of inspirational. With active contributions in the UK, Pakistan, India, Kenya, and Bangladesh, our faculty have been sought after for research, student and faculty engagements, and mentorship. This global recognition parallels our enhanced research and teaching culture, showcased through the hosting and co-hosting of influential conferences such as the International Conference on Business & Economic Development (ICBED)with our UK partners Center for Business & Economic Research.
Over the past decade in the role of Dean, I led the development of the Experiential Learning Lab (EEL). Established in 2015, the Experiential Entrepreneurship Lab (EEL) has been a catalyst for creating robust relationships through community, faculty and student development programs. Our students, organized into cohort groups, have immersed themselves in entrepreneurship studies across several countries, including Kenya, Chile, Jamaica, China, Japan, Thailand, Dominican Republic and Costa Rica.
"Tech Enabled Futures: Elevating Education in Underserved Communities" embodies a profound synthesis of my passion for social progress, a deep understanding of economics, and a comprehensive grasp of technological applications. This book presents a visionary approach to utilizing technology as a catalyst for ensuring equal access to quality education and nurturing a new wave of entrepreneurs who are informed, skilled, and empowered.
My commitment to fostering equitable systems and technological access was sparked during my doctoral studies, which focused on systemic equity. More recently, I have delved into the intricate interplay among technology, entrepreneurship, and education. These explorations have shaped my perspectives on how underserved communities can utilize technology not just as a tool, but as a bridge to opportunities for meaningful work, continuous learning, and the development of essential skills.
I have spearheaded an international collaborative effort to produce three seminal reference books on The Future of Work and entrepreneurship for underserved populations. As the lead editor of the first volume, "A Handbook on the Future of Work and Entrepreneurship for the Underserved," I oversaw a project that resonated widely with global scholars, prompting an overwhelming number of chapter contributions. The co-editors from this first volume were colleagues from Kenyatta University,
