The Gift of Now

As time's sands through the hourglass do slip,

I find my gaze backward in a wistful trip.

Lost in yesterday’s shadows, in memories that cling,

Blind to today’s light, to the promise it brings.

Dreams of tomorrow, of what may or may not come to be,

Stir a restless sea within, a tide of uncertainty.

Yet, if I dwell in the echoes of what was, or the whispers of what might,

I miss the melody of now, the day’s gentle light.

But here, in the quiet, a revelation unfolds,

Today beckons brightly, a story to be told.

A canvas for my dreams, aspirations bold,

In the present moment, my hands the brush hold.

Breath of life, yet I'm caught in yesterday's snare,

Shadowed by what's gone, by the future’s looming stare.

Fears of what's to come, phantoms of despair,

Yet, in truth, they're but mist, thinning in the air.

For the clock’s arms march on, they heed no plea or cry,

Stay present, they whisper, as moments flutter by.

Past and future, thieves of joy, to their bids, I no longer comply,

For in the here and now, my soul finds its sky.

No burdens weigh on me in this moment's embrace,

Breaking free from time's relentless chase.

The future, a mirage, the past, a closed case,

Now is my stage, my heart’s sacred space.
