Starlit Path - William Gomes
Veil of Divinity
Beneath the indifferent gaze of those who pass,
Whose vision cleaves to earth, as shadows to glass,
I trod the dust, that in my steps, perhaps,
You'd trace the whispers where light and shadow clasp.
Leaders of my chosen, in silent pact,
Plot against their shepherd, with betrayal racked.
Their sustenance, once drawn from sacred pact,
Now turned to sever ties with traitor’s tact.
Gift of liberty, from divine hands bestowed,
Becomes the yoke on him who love's road showed.
Was it not I who through despair's sea mowed?
Yet, in their liberty, my bonds they sowed.
For mere silver, sacred bonds they sold,
A companion turns, his warmth for cold.
The cost of life, in traitor's coins told—
Eternal love, by mortal greed, is bold.
Within the garden's shadowed plea, I knelt,
Let this cup from me,
in solitude, felt.
Yet, submitting to a will that melts
Stone to stream, in blood and sweat, love dwelt.
Vigil lost to sleep, while watch was sought,
In trial's hour, my fellowship forgot.
In dreams they wandered, as I, alone, fought
The looming shadow with redemption fraught.
Betrayed with a kiss, affection feigned,
By lips that spoke of love, now disdain.
Bound by the fury, in iron chains,
The cost of peace, with brutal force, stained.
Abandoned by those who once claimed as kin,
Before the dawn's light could day begin.
Mocked and scorned, wearing sin’s grim
Mantle, for their redemption, I brim.
Cries of Crucify
beneath Pilate’s stare,
Crown of thorns, royal robe, despair.
A king beheld, in agony laid bare,
His throne a cross, his scepter, suffering’s share.
Elevated on Golgotha’s crest,
My mission among thieves, divinely pressed.
Forsaken,
yet by divine will blessed,
The chalice of agony, to my lips addressed.
Upon my crown, humanity’s sin weaves,
The curse of Eden, by my brow relieves.
In death's cold embrace, hope conceives,
The first light of resurrection, eve retrieves.
This torn flesh, unveiled for all to see,
The lance, the nails, communion’s decree.
From my side, grace flows, the key
To mend creation, set the captive free.
Now stands the tree of life, its branches wide,
Where once was wrought sin’s deepest tide.
Its fruit, at once forbidden, now supplied,
Forgiveness offered, with arms open wide.
Listen, ye souls, as you journey near,
For you, the Divine lament, and tear.
Through death's dark veil, we are drawn clear,
To realms where love casts out every fear.
Upon the Threshold of Light
In the fading light, where earth and heaven blend,
He hangs, a bridge between beginning and end,
Words fall like seeds in the silence they rend,
From the cross, these whispers to the heart extend:
Forgive, for they know not,
breathes through the void,
A plea where ignorance and destiny are alloyed.
Mercy blooms in the vast unknown, unalloyed,
Echoing in the chasm of the unexplored.
With me, in paradise,
promises made where shadows meet light,
A thief’s last hope, a star in the engulfing night.
Here, despair and salvation’s embrace alight,
Drawing near the dawn beyond the sight.
Behold, your son... your mother,
love's enduring claim,
Even amidst agony, a new kinship to proclaim.
In the crucible of pain, a sacred flame,
Binding souls together, a lineage untamed.
Why have you forsaken me?
the forsaken cries,
A lament that every hidden fear belies.
In abandonment's depth, the soul’s true size,
Yet through the void, a hope that never dies.
I thirst,
speaks of more than water’s lack,
A longing for light on the darkest track.
Our own thirst reflects a deeper pact,
The eternal quest for what we think we lack.
It is finished,
not the closing of a door,
But an opening to what was veiled before.
In completion, peace, something more,
A passage to the shores of the evermore.
Into your hands,
the spirit finds its flight,
From the shadow of the cross into the light.
In this surrender, the end of night,
A new dawn breaking, infinite and bright.
From the cross’s shadow, love’s unending flow,
These utterances, like rivers, in the heart grow.
A dialogue with the divine, a sacred show,
Of love that from such profound suffering did grow.
Love's Enduring Altar
Beneath the watchful sky, where time bends and sighs,
A silence falls, as earth herself replies.
There, suspended 'twixt the dust and divine,
Love's testament unfolds, eternally enshrined.
Against the storm, a stark frame is drawn,
A vessel of grace, in wood and thorn.
Here, the essence of love is reborn,
In the darkest hours, before the morn.
The heavens weep, their tears shroud the light,
A curtain of sorrow for the coming night.
Yet, in this darkness, love shines bright,
A beacon of hope, in the fiercest fight.
Thorns encircle, nails pierce the skin,
Symbols of a battle, both without and within.
From His wounds, a new narrative begins,
A story of love, transcending sin.
Forgive them,
whispers through the despair,
A strength found in vulnerability, laid bare.
Where end meets start, in the open air,
The victory of love, beyond compare.
Why have you forsaken me?
echoes deep,
Yet in this abandonment, a promise to keep.
Through death's shadow, a love so steep,
Calls us home, across the great leap.
The ground trembles, the sacred veil tears,
A pathway to the divine mysteriously appears.
From this ending, a new beginning clears,
A horizon of hope, dispelling fears.
At this juncture, where love and pain entwine,
In surrender, life's true essence we divine.
The cross stands as love's enduring sign,
A silent altar, where human and holy align.
So here it remains, against the tide of years,
A testament to love, moving beyond tears.
In its shadow, our true selves appear,
Transformed by love, forever near.
In the Quiet Before the Storm
In the hush of evening's tender clasp,
Where shadows weave through time's unyielding grasp,
Faces glow in candlelight's soft gasp,
A circle of souls, each breath a rasp.
Here, bread breaks, in hands that sculpted stars,
Wine flows, from wounds that would bear our scars.
Do this in memory,
transcends the bars
Of now and then, healing ancient mars.
Amidst this communion, a silence swells,
With the weight of a tale no tongue tells.
A kiss in the dark, where future dwells,
Foretold in the clink of betraying bells.
He passes the cup, its contents steeped in night,
A foreboding elixir of forthcoming plight.
Carry this burden,
He says, into the light,
The Lamb, embracing the coming fight.
Love as I have loved,
His command so clear,
A mandate that quells the encroaching fear.
In this simple meal, the divine draws near,
The heart of the cosmos, suddenly here.
Yet, beneath the veneer of this sacred feast,
Lurks the specter of betrayal, not in the least
Deterred by the beauty from west to east,
The price of redemption, not yet released.
This supper, a threshold between dusk and dawn,
Foresees the veil of the temple, soon to be torn.
A world reborn, from pain withdrawn,
In the breaking of bread, a new covenant sworn.
Thus, we recall, through the simplest of signs,
A love story that perennially intertwines
The human and divine in sacred lines,
Binding the cosmos in love that defines.
When Silence Sang
In the stillness of a world in slumber's embrace,
Beneath the vast expanse of night's velvet face,
A whisper on the wind, a grace,
The dawn of love in a darkened place.
Bethlehem cradled a mystery profound,
In its embrace, where earth and heaven found
A stable, humble, hallowed
