Shadows of the City - German Adolfo Ramirez
Foreword.
Rain fell in the city of Horizon, washing the streets of the dark memories that had been unearthed during the investigation of the case. Silence hung over the interrogation room as Detective Alex Parker and journalist Olivia Bennett looked through the mirror at the man sitting with a blank stare, his hands cuffed.
It was the end of a long road marked by unexpected turns, painful revelations and moments of pure anguish. But finally, after weeks of hunting, they had captured the serial killer who had terrorized the city.
The killer, whose identity had been a surprise to everyone, had been a respected member of the community, a man no one would suspect of being capable of committing such atrocities. However, beneath the façade of respectability hid a dark heart, fueled by inner demons that drove him to commit unthinkable acts.
Lights in the Dark
Horizon was a vibrant and dynamic city, where modernity met tradition and diversity was celebrated at every corner. In its bustling urban center, neon lights flashed into the night, drawing passersby to the many bars, restaurants and clubs that filled the streets with music and laughter until the early hours of the morning. However, the air was thick with tension, as if it held a dark secret waiting to be revealed.
On a quiet street, a crowd of officers surrounded a macabre scene. The body of a woman lay on the ground, his pale face looked disfigured, while blood spread like tentacles in all directions.
Detective Alex Parker observed the crime scene with his sharp eyes scrutinizing every detail in search of clues. Beyond her, journalist Olivia Bennett watched with fascination, her mind already plotting the story she would write to the readers of the newspaper she worked for.
As Detective Alex Parker continued to examine the crime scene with intense concentration, his gaze drifted to the figure of journalist Olivia Bennett, who was absorbed in her own thoughts as she observed the scene. Her eyes shone with a spark of determination and curiosity, and Parker could sense the creative energy surrounding her.
Deciding to take a short break from his task, Parker approached Bennett with firm but calm steps. When he was close enough, he gave her a friendly smile and extended a hand in greeting.
—Olivia, he called, catching her attention.
Bennett's eyes lifted to him, surprised by his presence, but then lit up with a flash of recognition. Returning the smile, he shook the detective's hand warmly.
—Alex, he responded, his tone revealing slight amazement at meeting him again.
As they greeted each other, Parker noticed the fascination in Bennett's eyes and couldn't help but feel a certain admiration for his dedication and passion for his work. She decided to take the opportunity to strike up a conversation.
Another horrible crime,
Parker murmured.
—What do we have here, Alex?
—Another brutal murder, Olivia. It seems our killer stops at nothing.
—Any clue you found?
-Not much. Except that she is a lawyer, her name is Emily Parker and a strange symbol or emblem, I don't know, lying on the ground. It seems to be a clue, but I still can't figure out its meaning.
-Interesting. We're going to need everything we can get. I'm sure this won't be the last crime they commit.
-I agree. Let's keep looking, Olivia. Maybe we can find something that brings us closer to the killer.
Alex
Alex Parker was a man with a solid track record in the Horizon Police Department. From his earliest days at the academy, he had demonstrated an unwavering commitment to justice and an innate talent for solving difficult cases. Over the years, he had earned a reputation as one of the best detectives in the city, solving numerous cases that had stumped his colleagues.
However, despite his bravery and determination, Parker carried the weight of his own fears. The responsibility of protecting the city and its inhabitants haunted him constantly, and the fear of not being able to live up to expectations sometimes consumed him. Furthermore, he was haunted by a deep fear of losing the person he loved most,
