Preface
'Between Eternities' is my 15th book. This anthology presents a unique collection of poems and lyrics, spanning the vast spectrum of the human condition. It seeks to embrace universal emotions that bind us all. Within these pages lie verses that echo the joys and sorrows, hopes and fears, dreams and regrets that colour the canvas of our lives.
Each word is carefully crafted, imbued with raw emotions. From the delicate hues of love's tender embrace to the darkest corners of human suffering, 'Between Eternities' ventures to explore the intricate fabric that connects us as sentient beings.
While words have the power to heal and inspire, they can also evoke memories of pain and trauma. This collection does not shy away from addressing the complexities of life; as such, it embraces sensitive subjects that may be distressing to some readers. To ensure that readers approach these pieces with mindfulness, trigger warnings have been thoughtfully placed where appropriate.
Like the ebb and flow of tides, this book oscillates between moments of contemplation and moments of catharsis. It invites readers on a journey that traverses the vast landscapes of the heart, mind, and soul. Through the intertwining verses, readers may find solace in shared experiences, forging connections with both the familiar and the foreign.
As readers embark on this poetic odyssey, may they find moments of introspection, revelation, and empathy. Let the words within 'Between Eternities' be a mirror, reflecting the myriad facets of existence, and an embrace, welcoming readers into the shared human experience.
In addition to the poetic offerings, this collection provides supplementary insights. Within this collection, many poems are accompanied by details revealing their date and place of origin, providing a portal into the diverse landscapes that sparked their creation. Some poems have transformed into musical compositions, and the included chord progressions underscore this transition. Where possible, direct links have been included to these works while leaving room for potential additions in the future, accessible through my channel link. Beyond mere reflection, the anthology serves as a revelation, encapsulating moments suspended in the dimensions of both time and space. This work includes photographs and AI generated images.
In all forthcoming works, I will unequivocally employ the name Heinz G. Ross, adorned with my unique HR logo, to differentiate myself from the numerous authors and artists who share the name Heinz Ross, while also emphasizing my location as the Gold Coast, Australia.

Alive in all we are
J:\myDocuments\myPictures\music-instruments\140109 Alive in all we are-kindle.jpgThis lake contains the breath of our ancestors,
contains the blood of our kind,
harbours the remnants of our forebears.
We and this lake are relatives.
This lake and so many others have links to us.
Every cloud contains a part of our history.
Each played a part, however long ago,
that in time allowed us this view.
And in the ground beneath our feet,
our brothers’ soil in kind.
Our heritage is in front of us,
around us, in us,
alive in all we are.

All that I own
J:\myDocuments\myPictures\music-instruments\All that I own-kindle.jpgThe spring claimed that it owned the creek,
the creek claimed rivers, and the sea,
the banks and shores amazed,
‘Without us, where they’d be?’
All raised their voice,
each claimed their own,
‘cept one with many names…
‘What do you own?’ they questioned.
‘All that I ever own is I,
was born with all I had,
and when I die each part of it
I will be giving back.’
‘All that you own you are?’
The rivers fell as banks gave way
and ground beneath drained sea.
…when earth looked in its pockets
found soil and seeds and streams,
found bones and rocks and golden locks
and as it always knew…
‘Then take a look inside yourself,
you, one with many names,
is not all that you are of me,
all that you own on loan?’
…then asked the falling drops of rain,
‘Where will you go?’
‘We’re coming home.’

Holy ground
J:\myDocuments\myPictures\music-instruments\140311 Holy ground-kindle.jpgThe soil hid under rusting sheets
no blade of grass to see the sun
the battery’s poison content seeps
no seed to stand a chance
The debris fades in bleaching sun
no fruits that it can grow
footsteps not found
on wreck-strewn ground
abandoned lay as waste
Look at the scars you have me bear
not mirror of my soul
the shame not mine, but I’ll endure
as caustic acid soaks the ground
burns all which once had life
Discarded remnants won’t fuel growth
but fruitless barren soil,
use have I none of what you brought
digest I try but can’t make ore
nor sand from glass of other shores
Have you forgotten who I am?
…the blossom from the burning ground
the root that brought you healing,
I fed each plant you ever ate,
my breast not failed in feeding
I am the dusk, the dawn, the day
I am the night of calming break,
the oceans, lands and mountains high
and all that dwell within
I am the aggregate of all
since time saw light of day
and everything your eye can see
your then, your now, your history
If I’m not holy ground in life
how can I be
when you’re in me
be place of final rest?

Thanks for the sandwich (Trigger warning: Suicide, abuse)
J:\video\VideoImageFiles\140707-Thanks for the sandwich(MusicVideo2022)\x2.jpgYes, it's cold in winter.
A bit of a breeze chills you to the bone,
but with enough rags and cardboard you get by.
The bins will keep the wind off you.
