Resilience - Mervin Scott
HYPOCRISY AND SOCIETY
DISPENSABLE NUMBERS
Each day runs by,
pray to the sky.
Labouring for peanuts
leaves me broke,
I don’t know how long patience will cope.
Lack of care is the subject,
I am just a dispensable object.
Management who programme staff
to do incredible tasks,
looking up to see people looking down,
finding it amusing
in thinking that they are better;

where names truly have no sound.
Compelled to receive this,
a kind of blackmail.

sacrificing a life to work,
worshipping money seven days a week,
what is given is taken back by
never-ending bills,
yet praying for deliverance from my debts,
seeking your comforts and benefits.
Your promises may be hollow,
but I work towards a better tomorrow.
When will it come?
Thy will be done on Earth, to create
a man-made Heaven.
So, give me today my daily bread,
forgive me when I trespass against you.
For mine will be
the power and the glory,
(But not) forever and ever.
Amen.

black and white pulp to be
consistently devoured.
Deceit is the main ingredient.
A paper without scandal is like
a
