CAST OF CHARACTERS

James McNabb, Lt.JG US Navy, 32, at the opening scene. Tall, good looking, well built but not muscular. Graduate of Yale Medical School and the Army Air Force Pilot's Training School at Topeka, Kansas. He became a 2nd Lt after graduation. Upgrades came easier in those days. Like everybody else, he wanted to get in on the action and thought the war would be over in 6 to 9 months, so hurry, hurry. He'd had a friend who had been killed at Pearl Harbor, so he volunteered for the Pacific Campaign. He requested and was granted a shift to the Navy. His rank was changed to Lt JG, and he was sent to Hawaii for a quick training stint aboard the USS Enterprise. He's had very little experience flying from a carrier deck and no experience in combat. He is returning to his carrier after a mission when:

Kim Su Lujan, 25= beautiful and intelligent. She is the daughter of a Spanish land holder named Papa Grande Lujan. Her mother was part Chinese and part native Mangyan. Dark eyes and dark hair. Clear, smooth, and silky skin that is colored a light pinkish tan during the daytime that becomes almost brown at night. She speaks excellent Spanish, Chinese, Mangyan, and English. She has attended school in Manilla and has traveled abroad. Her mother died in childbirth when she was 10. The infant also died a month later, and she and her father are very close. She has been married, but her husband was killed in the first attacks on the Philippines soon after Pearl Harbor. She hates Japanese soldiers.

Papa Grande Lujan, 62, tall, strong, and determined. A self-made man who was once a Mariner and silk trader until he made enough money to buy a large piece of land in the country near Galleria. He has two loves: his daughter and his land.

Jason Woodbridge, 45, Tall, thin, with thinning black hair. He doesn't look like a Captain in the Army Air Force. He was a pilot in the US Border Patrol when the war broke out. He flew along the border, looking for aliens and smugglers. He learned a lot that would help him in his life of greed and crime in later life and had already started to profit with a little smuggling operation on the side. He is very comfortable with taking from others to feather his own nest. He has a wife somewhere but hasn't seen her in several years. He has already used blackmail to skyrocket his pay grade. His buddies can't believe his promotions. But, this is wartime, so it is accepted.

Mark Hamilton, 26. medium height and weight with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was one of the youngest pilots to fly combat missions in the war. He had just completed flight school and was going to work for Pan American Airlines on Monday, December 8, 1941. He immediately volunteered, was accepted, went through several weeks of training, and was sent to Hawaii to go aboard the USS Enterprise. The Big E. He was flying combat missions before he really knew what he was doing. On his 3rd mission, he was shot down. He was a good kid, but after spending almost 3 years with Woodbridge in a remote village, he is just about ready to try anything. We learn that he really did have a buddy downed near where he went down. Hamilton was mustered out of the Navy as a 1" Lieutenant, which is the equivalent of a Captain in the Army. His rank could help him get the gold home.

Jeanie Reddick, 27, Tall, lean, well proportioned with blonde hair and a ruddy complexion. She is a very pretty and intelligent girl. She had studied to be a home economics teacher and had her degree, but when the war started, she volunteered for the WACS and was sent to a quickie nursing school and then overseas before she knew what was happening. Since her brother was already fighting in the Pacific Campaign, she asked for and got sent to Hawaii. Never having dated much, she falls for a line from a married Army Captain, lets him take some liberties, and when she slaps him for going too far, he rapes her. She doesn't like men and trusts them less.

Bradford Reddick Sr., 73, in poor health but still salty. He has lost a son and thinks he deserves to finish his life in luxury. He only wants to find a fortune in gold and, retire, and make his only sibling happy. That's not too much to ask for is it?

Brad Reddick Jr. 39 Army Air Force pilot, Lt 1" He is working under CINCPAC (commander in chief pacific) intelligence at a remote secret air base. He is unhappy with his command because he is sitting at a desk job while his buddies are out shooting Japanese planes. He ends up a casualty of the Battle of Midway.

Suzy McNabb, 23, auburn hair and green eyes. She's pretty but not beautiful. She will soon graduate from the University of New Mexico. Suzy has had some steady boyfriends, but she has never been head over heels. She is looking for excitement and would have volunteered for service but her parents and Jim said no, no. She is restless and wants to do something different, but guesses she will just go to graduate school and let life take its course.

Rita and Nita Philippis, 24, pretty, dark haired Mangyan twins. Med height, sexy bodies. Fun loving, but very family-oriented.

Ghouls and Ghosts. Japanese soldiers that refused to surrender when the Japanese started to lose the war and even many years later. This was the concept of Bushido and was the concept that made the Kamikaze program successful. They believed that it was sacred and honorable to give your life for your Emperor and you would be amply rewarded in the hereafter.
