Curtis Yost

My name is Curtis Yost and I have been creating content for over twenty years.  I never felt that I had enough life experience to talk about things.  As I got older, I realized that having fun while writing was what I wanted to do and published my first series. American Isekai was a two year planned series that is now be writen every single day until I finish it.  The books are completely character based on some of the most flawed people you could imagine to save the world.  I'm proud of it and hope that when it ends, people will want to enjoy their own dark fantasies after.

    Chapter 1

Nevermore! It seems like such a strange word. The word is old-timey. It means never again. At this point you are probably asking yourself, why was that her final word? Why would anyone say that while taking their final breaths?

Nevermore was more of a way to say I’m never going down again. All my life I was a victim that tried to strike fear into the people around me and failed. I did my best to gain some semblance of control. I had to gain control to survive.

I wasn’t going to hide anymore. I wasn’t going to accept defeat ever again. I wasn’t going to allow myself to die in the next world. Any form of pain that happened or will happen was gone from that moment forward. I didn’t give a fuck who was in my way.

The warrior boy, or as he started to call himself the Hydra King had just stabbed me in the chest. A normal person would have been screaming in fear for their life. The truth was that now I could use Water Morphing. The beast was dead and couldn’t attack me with fire anymore.

The Hydra King angrily said, What the fuck do you mean, Nevermore!

I responded, You don’t get it. Do you? You’re not in control. I am.

I stepped forward two paces. The Hydra King was trying to pull out. He turned off the magical blades. Unfortunately for him, his hand was still in my stomach. He did his best to pull out his hand. The little bastard was stuck.

My arms wrapped around the Hydra King embracing him. He was so warm. I didn’t mind the embrace. I actually felt kind of nice like an older sister with her brother.

My chest was pressed against the Hydra King. My heart was beating wildly against him. I could feel him shaking. There was a little fear in him. He thought that this was going to be an easy kill.

I looked at the Hydra King’s ears. This was the moment I knew that I was in control. I smiled from ear to ear. It was a feeling like I was possessed. I got a little closer. Not even an inch was between us anymore. My head went over to his right ear. I blew into it a little. His heart was pounding a million times a minute.

I said, You look delicious little boy.

That was my cue. I bit his lower ear. Purple blood was seeping into my mouth. It tasted delicious in comparison to my own. The blood dripped out of the right corner of my mouth. I chose not to swallow. Instead, I let the blood stream down my neck.

The Hydra King was screaming out in pain. My teeth kept biting down harder. Apparently, his ears were very sensitive. I was digging his pain, his screams, his suffering. This was the moment that I became a monster.

I was born with something inside me. A power that refuses to settle for average. I am grateful for it. I am a warrior, a destroyer, a force of pure violence. Right now, all that I desired was the sheer glory of victory.

After the time in the Thunderdome, my heart grew black. Mercy seemed to be for the weak. I refused to be weak anymore.  Surrender seemed to be only for those that had no conviction.

I was coming for the next world and all it had to offer. There was nothing in this new world that was going to stop me. I seemed to want nothing more than to see my name carved in history. The next world was going to bow before my greatness. I planned to take it all.

I bit down harder onto the Hydra King’s ear. A crackling sound echoed through the mountains. My teeth grinded back and forth. My head whipped backward ripping the chunk of ear. Purple blood splattered everywhere. My nose and mouth were covered in it.

The piece was ear was still stuck in my mouth. I looked to the left and spit out the piece of ear bitten off. The Hydra King’s purple blood was running down my chin. I looked like a savage.

My eyes glowed purple. Arcane was my power too. My breath was deep. I was enjoying watching this little freak tremble in fear. I could smell the victory. This guy was nothing compared to me.

I stepped to the left and let the Hydra King’s arm go through my right side. Water splashed onto the ground.  The only blood left in this fight would be from him.

When the Hydra King’s arm was finally let go from my body, he immediately jumped back ten feet. His nose rose up and started to twitch. He was like a little bunny. A cute little bunny that was going to be my plaything for a while.

The Hydra King yelled, You bit off my fucking ear! What the fuck is wrong with you?!

I replied, Karma’s a bitch. She bites back. You better be prepared because she won’t hold back.

The Hydra King yelled, What the fuck?! You’re fucking nuts aren’t you! I will agree with one thing you have said! Karma, She is a bitch!

The Hydra King jumped backward. He floated onto the back of the beast. His eyes glowed red. A sparkle in his eyes shined and reflected against the rocks. The ground was shaking violently. I was getting prepared to fight some sort of golem out the purple surface. The gem-like surface was cracking from something.

At that moment, it hit me like a ton of bricks. The beast was a hydra. I just decapitated three hydra heads. My life was about to get a whole lot worse. Hydras were known for growing back their heads and spawning two more to take its place. I watched as the necks were splitting in half. The rejuvenation on this beast was insane.

Fire was shooting out of the necks of the hydra. A purple lava substance was spitting out like a water fountain. The scales were shifting on the hydra’s neck.  The shells on the neck were shaping and sparkled like diamonds. A roar was coming from the necks. They were able to roar without a head. That was actually quite impressive.

The necks raised into the air. The splitting caused blood to fall onto the ground melting parts of it. The scales were shifting around to make a new head. The blood was forming on the inside. An unprotected brain was forming inside the head. Nothing seemed to be properly controlled. Half the blood that was being formed was falling onto the ground. I wasn’t quite sure what to make of it all.

The Hydra King was laughing as the lighting was striking the ground around the beast. He was looking like some sort of mad scientist. The lightning flashed against his armor and started to blind me a bit. Just like in Dungeons and Druggs, there are phases to every boss battle.

The air was getting brisk. The air was blasting the area. I could feel the unrelenting winter chill grace my bare breasts. I wanted to warm myself up but couldn’t spare the mana.

The clouds were getting darker. A major storm was brewing. He seemed to have the power of controlling the weather. If he had that skill, there would be no reason why I couldn’t either.

The ground was no longer just gems.  There was grass underneath the surface. I looked down and saw a lone white rose trying to peek its way to the surface. This told me one thing. This freak wasn’t in as much control as he seemed. The island was fighting back against him. He seemed to be the warrior that changed the landscape of the island.

The heads on the hydras finally came back. I didn’t show mercy. I needed a plan to combat the six heads.  There had to be a way to kill them without decapitation. This was weird for me because I was so used to acting before thinking. He managed to change the rule. This whole island changed that rule.

The hydra heads were screeching. The noise sounded like a tyrannosaurus rex from a dinosaur movie. The heads bobbled back and forth. The heads appeared to be in some sort of pain. Whenever they are decapitated, There appears to be a mental breakdown that takes the hydra time to adjust.

The hydra’s ability to regenerate doesn’t mean it could outdo me. The heads were confused and were biting at each other. The shock of another head seemed to distract them.

The Hydra King stood on the creature’s back. Lightning was coming off him. There seemed to be a power source keeping him going. Either that or it was all for show.

The Hydra King’s hands were flowing back and forth. Each time he swayed his hands would make spiral motions. The Hydra King’s knees were bent. It looked like he was sitting on air.  His back was arched down. Purple lightning was molded in his hands.

I looked up at the sky. The clouds were moving at a fast rate. The Hydra King wasn’t just controlling the island.  He was controlling the skies. I should have noticed this earlier. The boy had quite a powerful presence. At least, to most people he would. I realized that this guy needed to be impressed. I didn’t need to destroy him.

The air rushed under me. I leaped into the air and floated. The Hydra King was staring me down. I flew up into the air further than his hydra could blow fire. My stomach felt ill the higher I went up. The air around me was getting thinner. That had to be part of his plan to keep me within range. Luckily, I learned how to make my own air back at the Wind Familiar’s challenge.

The purple gems were reflecting the lightning making it harder to see.  The clouds formed around me. The Hydra King was going to strike me from above. He was controlling every aspect of the battlefield. That was it wasn’t it. The way he controlled the environment was how he controlled the hydra.

I put on my Arcane Shield. This was going to be a defense match. At least for a little while, the Hydra King was using vast amounts of magic to control. His battles were made to be completely one sided. His biggest flaw seemed to be his magic output. The amount of magic he was draining him quickly. I just had to be vigilant. When his power was at its weakest, I would strike with the fury of a demi-god.

A sulfur smell was in the air. It smelled of rotten eggs which was gross. My eyes would probably be burning if not for the Arcane Shield. The Hydra King was testing me. My Water Morphing wouldn’t be a good idea for a sulfuric air. That would taint my body and drop me from the sky. He was quite cleaver and adept. The fact that he knew my skill and knew how to counter it was quite impressive.

The Hydra King yelled, You’re not impressing me! We are right back where we started from! You know what! You lost favor with me. A simple evaluation of the landscape and common knowledge about my beast would have prevented you from decapitating my baby!

I yelled, I have the High Ground!

The Hydra King yelled back, What the fuck are you talking about?! You have no ground at all! If you can’t even take me on, how the fuck will you ever beat my brother or the Demon King!

    I yelled, Whoever said I wasn’t winning!

The Hydra King didn’t realize it quite yet. I was stalling for time. The longer he waited. The less control he had over the environment. He was making all kinds of wild movements causing the weather to bend around me.

Lightning was shooting all around my body. The Arcane Shield was keeping me safe from anything that hit me. He used more mana to strike than I used to defend. On top of that, I didn’t need as much mana to float.

There was a change in his demeaner. His muscles were tensing up. You could see the veins popping out of the arms. The longer he was holding the stance. The redder his eyes got.

I yelled, Hey, cocksucker. Are you going to fight me or not!

The Hydra King yelled, You’re resorting to name calling! What are you, two?!

I yelled, You are hiding behind that beast of yours! I thought we were going to have a real fight!

The Hydra King realized at that moment. I was holding back. Lightning was surrounding me and not a single muscle was twitching. He even said from the beginning that I was nuts. To be fair, he might be right about me. I might be the craziest person on the whole fucking island.

The clouds were condensing into one large cloud above me. The darkness from the cloud blocked out the sun. The chaos in the clouds was noticeable. The Hydra King was doing his best to seem in control. He couldn’t seem weak for even a second. This led to him being a little hasty.

The large cloud was flickering purple lightning inside. It was like the cloud was charging up to spew out an incredible piece of lightning at me. The Fire Familiar claimed that I was nuts for just standing there. I took that meteor on full force. I had to ask myself. Could I take on the Hydra King’s biggest lightning bolt full force?

The cloud was roaring loudly. I could hear nothing but the crackling of lighting being formed a few feet from my head. This was going to be the moment he remembered who I was. I was charging up my Arcane Shield. I made sure that he could see and feel the amount of magic going into the shield. This was a huge part of the plan.

The Hydra King smiled. The kid thought that he had the upper hand. My ego was getting into the way. There was no way that I didn’t notice the power overhead. I was literally in the storm. This seemed to be a standoff. He knew that if the lightning wasn’t good enough. I would fly right down there and take him out. If the lightning was good enough, I would be taken out and the challenge would be over.

The Hydra King Yelled, You’re fucking toast.

The largest form of purple lightning that I had ever seen was flowing out of a small crack in the cloud. I could already feel the awesome power of the lightning and it wasn’t striking yet. The focus needed to take a hit that large, solid, and fast would be insane. There was no way that my Arcane Shield could block this attack. There was only one thing that I could think of.

In the old Dungeons and Druggs game, there was a move called Blink. Blink allowed a player to teleport anywhere they could see in front of them. This was the most classic of all Arcane magic moves. You would have to keep your eyes open and activate the spell. I saw a spot thirty feet away from me.

The lightning felt like it was going in slow motion. My body was trying to catch up to what was going on around me. I used blink as the lightning was a few inches from my head. The familiars seemed to talk. The Hydra King did his homework on me. The question was. Did I learn anything on this journey? Or would I be unteachable and killed in the next world?

The lightning barreled down from the sky. It completely missed me. The Hydra King had a look in his glowing red eyes. The look was Oh shit. What have I done? He put all that power into one move. The lightning didn’t even touch me. It did get close enough to cause my hair to go nuts once again. I looked like the Bride of Frankenstein.

The purple lightning hit the gem-like purple surface. The surface shattered. The shard flew over thirty feet into the air. The grass underneath turned black. A lone rose was fighting to get to the surface was blown into a million pieces. It sounded like glass was falling from the sky.

The Hydra King was sweating badly. He thought that was going to be the end of me. I managed to dodge his lightning. He was trying to gain his bearings. The Hydra King dropped to one knee. His breath was taken away. I won this battle for now. I just had to figure out a way to take down the hydra. You could see in his eyes. That he was losing complete control in this wild world.

    Chapter 2

Poor unfortunate soul , the Hydra King was now on one knee. It looked like he was taking a bow. I saw weakness in his eyes. He thought that everything that I could ever do to him. I already did. The Hydra King believed that I was a fool that would take any blow. I had taken a few hits of lightning already. I could see why.

My heart raced. It wasn’t out of fear or anxiety. I was excited. All I knew was that I needed to take him out. I held back for a moment. I needed to see how badly the tides had turned. The battle was far from over as long as the hydra was in play.

The clouds around me were still pure black. They were merging together making a more dangerous weather phenomenon. I could feel it trying to let loose. My heart was telling me to use my power to ease the internal struggle the clouds had. The problem was. I didn’t realize I had the power to do that yet.

I used blink and went right behind the Hydra King. My right arm went across his throat. My left arm came down placing the hand on the inside pit area of my elbow.  I’m not quite sure what that area is called but used it. The left hand pushed against the back of his head. When you pull backward, anyone in this hold choke to death.

People in the first world called this maneuver a choke hold. There were so many ways to choke a human being. I never understood why this was considered the proper way to choke someone out. It did seem to be very effective.

The Hydra King was choking on his own air. I was listening to the sweet sound of him trying to escape.  The hold wasn’t easy to get out of, even if I was a physically inferior human.

The Hydra King’s head was placed against my breast. For some odd reason, his body couldn’t stand up at all. His legs were flailing all over the place looking for a place to drop his feet. It was harder to hold on because of his violent flailing.

I refused to let go of his neck. This was the only way I could beat him. At least, that’s what I thought at the time. My teeth were grinding while holding on. I was enjoying it. I was a bit of a sadist after all.

The color of Hydra King’s skin was changing. The Hydra King’s neck was bruised enough that a long black mark was placed across. The rubbing against his neck was causing severe burns. His skin was peeling off from the burns.

As I held on to his neck, the hydra noticed me on their back. The shape of the back reminded me of a turtle. It was long and had a round top made of scales. The scales were able to take on a lot of heat. I guess you would need something that could handle a lot of heat when you’re a fire breathing fucktard.

I put mana into my Arcane Shield. The hydra was eying me up. There were six heads all waiting to cook me alive. I wondered how dumb the creature truly was. Would they cook their own master alive? The order seemed to be just to attack me. There was no guarantee this guy was going to be safe.

The heads were looking back. All six of them were snarling. A few of them had smoke coming out of their noses. I moved to the right a foot. Their heads moved along with my movement. It was like a snake trying to mesmerize and be patient right before a strike. The heads in the center seemed to be debating on what to do. The left and right heads seemed patient and waiting for commands.

The left center one from us opened its mouth. Its breath smelled rancid. It was trying to get in close contact with the Hydra King and myself. The head was getting closer. I had a feeling while looking at its black cold eyes that it was about to eat me. It kept getting closer to us. The neck was vibrating from the growling. The scales vibrating enough that I wondered if they would shed off.

As the head came closer to me, the right head in the center bit its neck. He was trying to stop left head from making a stupid mistake. They were doing their best to protect their master. It wasn’t their fault he was a stubborn ass and wouldn’t give me the power.

The Hydra King wasn’t showing any sign of letting up. There was a reason he was referred to as king. Well, it might be a self-proclaimed title.  I didn’t know enough about the guy to make a proper judgement.
