    Chapter 1

The year was 2045. Bitcoin was long gone, having peaked and crashed over two decades earlier. But James wasn't interested in the old dinosaurs of crypto. No, he was hot on the trail of the hottest new token - ChronoCoin. It was a cryptocurrency that could supposedly allow the user to travel back in time.

James has been obsessed with time travel since he was a child. The idea of going back and righting wrongs or seeing major historical events in person always fascinated him. And now, if the rumors about ChronoCoin were true, that dream could become reality.

He had sacrificed everything to get his hands on the first batch of coins. He quit his boring finance job, sold his condo, and cashing out his entire 401K. His friends and family thought he was crazy, but he didn't care. The potential reward was worth it.

The coins were set to go live for trading today at noon. James woke up at 6 AM too excited to sleep. He made himself an extra strong pot of coffee and set up at his computers, ready to buy the coins the moment they were available.

He didn't know how many would be for sale or what the price would be, but he was locked and loaded with every penny he had. He knew he had to get at least 100 coins if he hoped to have enough computing power to make any worthwhile time jumps.

But looking at the ChronoCoin site and white paper convinced him this might actually be the real deal. The promised features of the cryptocurrency lined up with theoretical requirements for time travel. It incorporated quantum computing, wormhole algorithms, and closed timelike curves. If anyone had cracked time travel, this is what it should look like.

    At noon,
