About this ebook
I lost a day of my cruddy life. Not that I missed it but now I have this feeling that I must go to Savannah and it won't go away.
My name's Bart and I've been on the run from my father for three years after I'd "embarrassed" him because I'm gay. I had to leave or get sent to a camp. So, I get to the place in Savannah I feel I need to be at and it's mostly guys that live there. It's strange but I feel like I'm home. It's great to be able to rest but I can't stay, my Dad's too powerful. He'll hurt anyone that helps me.
Then I met Clay and my world turned upside down. We clicked. I mean, really clicked. I tried to tell Clay I was a bad risk but he won't leave me. Now Dad's men grabbed me and I'm in the camp. It's strange, but I can feel Clay and he's getting closer.

Everything ready?
Dominic L’Enfant asked Benjamin Riqueti.
We had RSVPs for fifty. Nate and I planned for a hundred.
Dom sighed, Not as big a showing as I had hoped but better than nothing.
Once folks see what we are trying to do, word will spread. There have to be a few thousand of us in the area. We have the land cleared for the school and the temporary buildings in place. That alone will show them our commitment.
Do you have your speech ready?
Ben shrugged, Other than showing them our plans and broaching the subject of the development, what more is there to say? With a group this small, I think a one-to-one would do better.
Nathan Riqueti walked up to his mate and husband, Ben, hugged him. I believe half of those that show up may pledge. We need more families to make the school work. Offering free schooling will help draw them in.
Hillary James-L’Enfant joined the three with Dom and his boys, Ethan and Alex. Ethan asked, Will there be other kids coming for us to play with?
Nate knelt down and gave him a hug, At least a dozen I hope.
Cool!
he grabbed Alex’s hand and ran off again.
Hills watched them run off, If everything was that simple.
Dom frowned as he looked at their house, We need to get the house renovated.
I’d prefer to spend money elsewhere until we get a few more people to show where our priorities are. If we start renovations too early, they’ll think we’re using the coven’s money on ourselves and not them,
Hills replied.
Uh, hello?
a voice spoke from behind them.
Nate turned to look at a young man who couldn’t be more than eighteen from his looks. His clothes were dirty as he also was. Sorry, we were talking about some of our projects. How can we help you?
Um, I don’t know. I woke up a few days ago and felt I needed to be here. I’ve been hitching and walking since then.
Where are you from, son?
Ben asked.
Macon. I don’t know why I should be here.
The four looked at each other, the mates talking silently together wondering about him. Hills spoke first, Fate must be guiding him here.
We have room for you to stay with us. Tony may have some clothes that will fit you since all of us are bigger than you are. Alice will want to feed you,
Dom told him.
The young guy looked around, Um, sorry if I crashed your party.
It’s more of a reunion sort of a thing. We are trying to reconnect with some people in the city that we lost touch with,
Nate answered.
Families’ important. Mine pretty much threw me out.
Tony came up to the group, Hey, there. I’m Tony. I was out there also for a while because I told my parents I was gay and they threw me out.
Jacques Brill, Tony’s mate, came up and gave him a hug, You’ve found your family now.
The young man looked at the six men, Are all of you gay?
We are three happily mated couples. Is that a problem?
Jak asked with a little bite in his voice.
The young man’s mouth formed an ‘O’, Oh no! I’m pretty sure I’m gay also. No problem with me.
We’re trying to build our own family here. My parents set an example that I want to follow. Just because we’re not all related doesn’t mean we can’t form those bonds together. Family is what you make it,
Dom told him.
Mine tried to send me to a camp because I wouldn’t be what they wanted.
Tony came over and gave him a hug. Come on, we’ll get you some food, clothes, and a shower. We have a room for you to stay in as long as you need it.
Tony guided him away. What’s your name?
Um, Bart.
All six could sense it was a lie but they would let it slide until ‘Bart’ was ready to tell them his true name.

People started to drift in about a half hour after Bart showed up. Dom, Hills, Ben, and Nate greeted the first one together but after a dozen had arrived, they split up. Dom and Hills were happy three families showed up and introduced Alex and Ethan to their kids.
Ben had been chatting with a few of the older appearing people. He encountered one other that vaguely remembered him but like Alice, he was too young to know the former Master of the coven.
Dom got up on the raised platform near the refreshments and stood up at the microphone placed there. Welcome to our meeting.
Hills joined him and held Dom’s hand as they had agreed beforehand. He continued, "I am Dominic L’Enfant and this is my fated mate and co-master, Hillary James-L’Enfant. We wanted to get to know those of you still in the area and let you know something about us. My father is Pierre L’Enfant, who is in Washington, DC. He and my mother made sure that everyone who was his responsibility knew that they were family to them and were treated as such.
Hills and I want to start that here in Savannah. We are taking the first step by constructing a private school for our kind here on our land. The school will be free to anyone in
