    Pancakes With God - Josh Hilden

    The air was cool for Florida in October. The humidity was low, and the sun shone so bright people had to keep their heads down if they weren't wearing shades. To the people walking up and down the quaint pedestrian road, this must have seemed glorious.

    Nathan wasn't one of those people.

    Head down, he navigated the crowd of tourists like a dancer. He knew where he was headed. He didn't want any distractions.

    He subconsciously hummed as he walked.

    While pleasant, the air was a tad hot for the suit. He'd been wearing it all morning; thus, he carried the dark blue jacket over his forearm with his father's black tie draped almost reverently. His unbuttoned collar revealed the brand-new undershirt, gleaming underneath.

    The worn leather messenger bag hung from his free shoulder.
