    Chapter One

    The Start of Something New

    Ekla, with her short, dirty blonde hair parting to the left, woke up in Damon’s room once more. The room had a different feel to it, but it still had the same white wall, the same bed, the same walk-in wardrobe and of course, the same clothes. She didn’t want to be awake, after all, when you are awake, you feel; and poor Ekla didn’t want to feel anything, at least for a long while. I think we all feel like that sometimes. Ekla rolled over to the right, and was now face-to-face with the last picture of her, and her now deceased boyfriend, Damon. A tear fell from her eye, then another, and another until they were streaming down her rose-red cheeks. Sam, short brown hair and his ironed-over shirt, red of course, Damon’s brother, walked in, Okay, Ekla, time to get up. Everything is okay. Come on, get up, Sam said, annoyed at Ekla. She hadn’t left the room in a week. Every day was getting worse for her, she never felt okay anymore. Is Damon alive? she said, beginning to calm down but tears still slowly fell down her cheeks.

    You know he isn’t.

    Then nothing is okay. I lost the love of my life, and you lost a brother. I know that’s painful, but I lost a lover and you are making me get over it. I will never be over him. You could hear the pain in her voice echo around the room Get out, Sam! I’m done with you.

    Ekla? Please, I didn’t mean it in a harsh way. Ekla turned the other way. Sam took this as a sign for
