About this ebook
Embark on a poignant journey through the landscapes and lives of an Australian farmstead in the 1960s, now lost to time. In this heartfelt memoir, the author recounts the hilarious, sad, crazy, and desperate stories that defined their family's life on a farm. Relive when Grandpa Gerry burns down the old outside toilet, and when Auntie June realises, "WHAT, there's a COW in the HOUSE???!!!"
Through this evocative memoir, relive the laughter, tears, and unbelievable, but true tales, of a family that once toiled in the paddocks, transforming them into a vibrant landscape and farm, which has been claimed by progress. Devastated by coal mining, the once-thriving region becomes a backdrop for tales of endurance and the indomitable human spirit. In a touching narrative of passion for the land and the enduring legacy of Australian farm life, the author immortalises a world forever changed but never forgotten, through the lens of childhood.

THE author's early years growing up on "Hardway Farm", east of Collie in Western Australia shaped his love of the bush and outdoors. He attended the University of Western Australia, obtaining Honours in Pathology, then travelled overland from Australia to England, experiencing a multitude of cultures. A twist of fate saw him managing pubs in London, before returning to Australia and a career in medical science. Years later, he helped transform research biobanking at a university hospital in Sweden but never lost the love of wide, wild landscapes which have been an essential part of his artistic focus. Nature is a requisite part of the Australian experience, and throughout life, he nurtured a desire to depict the outdoors in a passionate pursuit of Plein Aire art using pastels and watercolour. His motto is "making mistakes, one line or colour at a time," and he now devotes equal time to painting, writing, and meditation.
