The Fading Man - Bassem Khaled

    SUNK IN THOUGHTS

    Plunged into endless depths.

    Harrowing visions, death, and life.

    Lost meaning and forgotten self.

    A fleeting feeling of emptiness.

A sudden fear of the never-ending.

A faded smile on my lips.

    Sunk in thoughts.

    SPECTERS

The Specters roam through time and space.

Emerging from the gaps of reality.

They are not good or evil.

Just broken remnants, banished from death.

    Perhaps I am among them?

    SNOWY STREET

    Dead buildings surround us.

They are busy but make no sound.

Life is buried under the snow.

The light does not affect you.

They hide in the dark, eyes on me.

Who are you? and who is Me?

And most importantly, What is Us?

    PHANTOM PAIN

Once my prised mind, now I can't even think.

I am removed from myself, and a strange reflection stares back at me.

Memories fade and morph, but the pain stays the same.

I know my body is sick, but why does my soul suffer?

    Silent screams and hidden tears.

Will it ever end? Will I ever be me?

    THE CITY HOLDS ME

Every city has a heart, every place has a soul.

Under the dropping skies, beside waters of glass.

Tall structures hang, and tiny lights come and go.

Life and death running a cycle, night and day evading each other.

    The city holds me.

    I SAW A LOT

I suffered pains to no end.

I went through nightmares, again and again.

    The terrors I walked.

    The fires that haunt me.

    Not I who survived.

    Dull, yet stronger.

    Slower, yet wiser.

    Dead, yet Alive.

    HOW DO I BELONG?

How do we belong with Others?

    How do we make Friends?

    How do we find Lovers?

How to not feel out of Place?

    How to not be Alienated?

How to not be from another Planet?

Why does one need to Belong?

    A GATHERING OF TREES

Look to the trees, reach to the skies.

The forest holds answers to questions unasked.

A walk among the barks can mend the heart.

The wise, the old, and the calm stand tall.

Under the gentle light, all can shine.

    NOSTALGIA

To forget is to lose a part of yourself.

    The past shapes the future.

    Experiences shape our character.

Failures are only lessons to be learnt.

You can't build your life upon something that doesn't exist anymore.

    THE CROW

    A mastermind in deceit.

    A genius tactician.

    Full of knowledge and wisdom.

    A survivor and adventurer.

    A logical realist.

    WRAITH

    A fate worse than death.

Remnants of a man, forgotten in
