    Foreword

Hi, there. My name is Judith Sonnet. I write books. Maybe you’ve read a few? Maybe you’ve never heard of me. Either way, let me start by saying this: I’m gay. And gay people... we just love horror.

We love the camp aspects, we love the traumatic sections, and we even love the messy, gory, wet, and spongey pieces. I can’t speak for every queer person, of course, but everyone I know and love? We all adore these types of stories. The ones that shock and push boundaries.

And maybe it’s because so many of us shock others simply by... existing. Our very lives push boundaries. The societal boundaries that are implanted on all of us when we are growing up... especially those implemented by religious institutes. So, as a queer person, when I’m asked why I like to write and read shocking books... I tend to say its just because shocking people comes easily to me.

And so, I’m always on the lookout for other queer authors doing the sort of thing I like to do. I love queer horror when its abrasive, mean, and cold. I love queer horror when it rubs your face in the nastiest parts of life. When it revels in trauma and outrage. When it feels like the author –and, by proxy, the reader—are shouting angrily into the void. All teeth and torn muscle. All spit and viscera.

It should then come as no surprise that I am a fan of Aiden E. Messer.

The first thing I read by Messer was their debut. A collection of stories called A Little Collection of Fucked Up Things That Happened in my Mind. I took a chance on the book, not knowing a thing about it or the author other than the vague impression that it was going to be extreme and probably a little amateurish since it was the author’s debut –and lets be honest, all debuts are a bit messy, mine included.

I was floored by the book.

It was, yes, very clearly a first effort from someone new to the scene... but that didn’t hold it back. Content wise, the book was everything I’ve ever looked for. It features graphic sequences of torture, rape, and depravity. It featured aliens turning people into sex slaves, cosmic beings that feed on abuse, and a vicious wound-fucking scene that sparked memories of Edward Lee at his finest.

Each story was a jolt of unhindered gore... and I lapped up every word like a starved animal. I read the book in under an hour, and I believe I was the first person to leave a review on Amazon only moments after closing it.

    Afterwards, I asked Aiden
