Luigi PaganoBorn in Italy, moved to England in 1961.Having dabbled in writing in his native country, he decided to resume this activity, as a hobby, in his retirement.He has published five collections of poems:‘Idle Thoughts’; ‘Reflections’; 'Cherry Ripe''; 'Poetry on Tap' and 'Cherry on Top' plus 'Guns and Dolls' – a short book containing three short stories – and three novelettes 'Jessica World'., 'An Enquiring Mind' and 'A Life's Journey'Digital versions of these can be found at Smashwords. and other distributors like Kobo and Barnes and Noble.He was a member of Writers Group and indie publishers I*D Books based in Shotton, Flintshire until they ceased activity.His work has been featured in various magazines and anthologies. Dandelions
It was quite recently I read this appeal
which at first glance seemed unreal:000
"Don't spray or pull dandelions, please,
they're the first source of food for bees."
I did not think that insects had the need
to be sustained by a troublesome weed.
The more I read, the more I understood
that this unloved plant can also be good.
Although its appearance is not aesthetic
it has proved most effective as a diuretic.
The dent-de-lions may be made into wine
and this application sounds actually fine.
To this humble plant I have been unkind
but it looks as if I must change my mind;
admit that it is time to accept with jollity
this botanical growth's restorative quality.

A Typical Routine
My literary efforts
are part of a ritual;
I switch on the PC
every day, as usual.
I open a document,
blank to start with,
and start composing
like any wordsmith.
I think of a subject
that I'd like to explore,
of appropriate imagery
and the right metaphor.
I would like to write
something exclusive
but I've writers' block:
the Muse is elusive,
I desist from creating
and make myself coffee;
something tells me
