    Hope

    All round the estate

    Single mums take a stroll

    Pushing prams.

    They sit on benches,

    They chat and have lunch:

    Some crisps, a diet coke,

    Maybe a roll.

    A cigarette, dangling

    On the glossy lips,

    Blows smoke

    In their eyes

    And tries

    To make them cry.

    They could weep

    Vales of tears

    For a life of despair

    And berate

    The world

    For their fate.

    But they cope

    In the face of adversity

    And survive.

    The children, asleep

    And cocooned

    From danger,

    Are their only hope

    To keep the dream
