    Chapter One

    Julie ran onto platform 7 of Kings Cross station as fast as she could. She knew she was late. The train to Peterborough suddenly started moving. She dropped her briefcase to run faster, but the train sped up even more. She screamed, followed by a curse.

    The furious young woman attracted attention with her scream and curse. A man called Trevor, who had drunk a beer with his buddies to unwind after a week of work, sauntered closer. It did not matter to him whether he caught an earlier or a later train as his car was in a secure car park near the station at Peterborough.

    He noticed that the young woman appeared to be angry. She raised her arms as if she wanted to invoke higher powers. But the train’s red taillights were moving further into the distance. Trevor watched the woman with growing interest. Her muscles were tense, and under her skirt, it was evident that her muscular calves belonged to legs trained from sport. Her short beige jacket hung loosely open, allowing a nice view of the tight black sweater underneath.

    She stamped with her right foot on the large concrete slabs of the platform. Krrrak! Her high heel broke. Julie fell right on the platform's edge but broke her fall with her right arm. An older lady and Trevor rushed to offer help. The young woman appeared to be a tormented tigress, and she kicked
