Lunette grew up on a cattle ranch. Both her parents helped raise and care for yaks, and she would watch them from afar.
As she grew up, Lunette was sent to Niehone for school. It took half an hour to walk to the city, with her books tucked under one arm as she held her mother’s hand. Sometimes it would take longer when winter arrived, and the snow would reach her knees. But as her mother would tell her: they were snow elves. They persevered through the snow and cold, never letting anything slow them down. She would often remind her that since she has snow white hair, she was destined to be strong and relentless. Lunette wasn’t sure what her hair colour had to do with her personality, but whatever made her mother happy.
At school, one of the first lessons she remembered sitting in was about the war between Glacieux and Eternitare. Her teacher taught them how there was no fighting right now, but they need to be careful in case it starts again. She remembered the stories of snow elves being burned alive by grey elves and how many homes were destroyed by the war.
When her mother picked her up, she said how she didn’t want to go back to school if she was going to keep hearing scary stories. As usual, her mother lectured her about the perseverance of snow elves.
It wasn’t too long after her fifty-seventh birthday, that whispers started in Niehone about the fighting starting again. The grey elves were going to start attacking Glacieux and it wasn’t going to be as safe anymore.
Lunette talked to her parents one evening about these rumours. Once again, she got the lecture about perseverance. Even if she was scared of the grey elves, she had to move on with her life.
She was sixty-one when everything turned upside down.
