    DEDICATION

There are many people to whom I am thankful for helping me come to this point in my life. A place where I could publish my words with confidence. I must thank God for any talent that I may possess.

My mother, Goldie Lee Miller and my aunt, Ann Parsons were great authors. They could write and tell stories beyond compare. It is sad to me that neither one of them will ever get the recognition that they so richly deserved. I only wish that they could have lived long enough to see that I published my book in their memory.

There is my dear friend and teacher Ms. Connie Hughes who took the time to show me different styles and ways of developments. She believed in me more than I believed in myself. I can never thank her enough for her support and hours of time spent on my behalf. Through her, I learned that I could write words for others to enjoy. I would not have written this book without her amazing dedication to teach me.

    AMBER SMOKE BOOK ONE RECAP

Amber has survived an interesting life. Born to a drug and drunken stripper and a birth certificate stating her name as, Amber Calhoun, father unknown. She found out later as a young girl her father was Glen Smoke. She insisted on using Smoke as her name once she found that information out. She was known as Amber Smoke and no longer answered to Amber Calhoun. She followed in her mother’s footsteps and became a stripper.

She stabbed a man and operated an illegal gambling room and was sent to prison for three years. She was pregnant and could not say who was the father. The child died before childbirth and that was very hurtful and difficult for her to emotionally except. She was on drugs for a short period of time and realized that was not for her, thank God.

Then she encountered Leonardo Gianelli of the Gianelli crime family. He suggested and pushed her to become Alabama’s governor. He had the power and influence to get her elected. After that, he basically owned her lock, stock, and barrel. He made sure certain bills were introduced and passed for his benefit.

It was not until she met Bradley that a similarity of a normal life began to come into focus for her. She was managing two clubs, a brothel, and a restaurant, all at one time. All that and she still was going to clubs on weekends to perform as their stripping headliner. Leo gave Bradley every hotel construction job in Mobile, after he moved his organizational headquarters to Mobile from Chicago.

Bradley and Amber were afraid of Leo and his crime family. They had made millions between themselves over the years with Leo’s financial help. Amber made tens of thousands every weekend for years as the most demanded stripper. Bradley had made millions from all the construction jobs that Leo awarded him.

Bradley and Amber got married and bought a boat. They wanted to hide from Leo, because they did not trust him. They believed he might have them killed. Amber became Amber Underwood after her marriage to Bradley Underwood.

This second book starts as Amber and Bradley are leaving Mobile. Hopefully to hid from the Leonardo Gianelli crime family. They will go around the world filled with new challenges and dangers. I hope you find their adventures entertaining, and fully appreciate Amber’s transfer from her early life; to the one she has cultivated to become the Amber she is today.

    AMBER SMOKE TRANSFORMATION

As Amber and Bradley sailed out into the gulf. They waved their final goodbyes from the deck of their yacht for the last time. They were in no hurry to arrive in Key West. They enjoyed the beautiful weather and calm gulf waters. Bradley activated the boat’s auto control and then opened a bottle of wine. He and Amber sat in their deck chairs and admired the sunset taken place in the western sky.

It is a beautiful sunset honey. I hope our future is as wonderful as seeing the sun disappear into the gulf’s water. Amber said.

I will do my best to make that come true for you, baby. I do not see any reason why together we cannot make a great future, full of happiness and love. Bradley remarked.

Oh Bradley. You always know exactly what to say to make my heart beat twice as fast as what is normal.

Bradley set their speed at only ten knots and then he and Amber went to bed. The boat was still on auto control with the hazard horn activated. If another boat or obstacle was detected the horn would sound at a deafening volume to warn them. However, there had not been any detection when Bradley and Amber rose and went topside the next morning.

    KEY WEST, FLORIDA

It was another beautiful sunny day with calm waters. Amber made breakfast and the two enjoyed their omelets and hashbrowns. As they finished eating, Amber noticed land a few miles ahead of them. Bradley looked through his pair of large binoculars and saw it was Key West. Bradley turned on his radio and contacted the Key West Marina Harbor Master.

Key West Marina, this is the (Life Changer) seeking permission to dock at your marina.

Life Changer, what is the footage of your vessel? the Habor Master asked.

She is a 55-foot Azimuth and I’m only looking to dock her for twenty-four or forty-eight hours.

You are in luck, Life Changer, I have one position left that can accompany your vessel. You may enter from the south entryway and use slip number 77. Everything is clearly marked and visible.

Thank you, Key West. I should be entering the marina in approximately twenty minutes. I would feel more comfortably if you would guide me as I enter the marina.

I can help you with that. I see you approaching from the west as we speak. I will contact you as soon as you start your southern entry.

Soon Bradley was at the marina’s southern entry and slowing started entering the waterway with caution.

I see your Life Changer. Continue straight for approximately a hundred yards. You should see an opening to the left. Turn into that waterway and slip 77 is on the right six boats down. It is large enough that you should have no problem in docking. Once you are secure come to my office at the end of the dock and complete the paperwork for docking. Bring your registration and all your permits for your yacht, Life Changer. The Marina Habor Master said.

Bradley maneuvered the yacht into place and tied her up to the dock’s tiedown supports. He gathered the proper paperwork. Then he and Amber went to the marina’s office. They walked in and saw a chubby red-faced man sitting behind a small desk.

Hello, I am Captain Red Marlin. I am the Marina Harbor Master. Did you bring your paperwork with you?

Yes sir. Bradley said as he handed the papers to the him.

Everything looks fine and up to date. Where abouts you headed?

I think we are going to the Bahamas next. Amber said.

You have got a great yacht moored in the slip. The Azimuth is a good vessel and at fifty-five feet, you should not have any trouble. However, watch the weather reports closely. It is hurricane season and they can pop up overnight. What engines are in that craft? I know you have options available as the buyer.

Three engines. Damn if I know what they are or what company made them. I just bought the boat because I was told it was an excellent yacht. Bradley stated.

They ought to be able to handle anything you might run into. When you are ready to leave come on in and pay your docking bill. Do you want me to have your fuel tanks topped off while you are here?

Sure, that sounds good. I called a taxi before coming to your office. How long does it take for a taxi to arrive?

It is probably waiting in the parking lot already. They know you must be rich if you are parking your boat here. The taxi drivers try everything to get a big tip, so beware.

Amber and Bradley left the small office and went to the marina’s parking lot. Sure enough, there sat a taxi, just like Red had said. Bradley opened the backdoor of the vehicle and Amber and he got inside.

Please take us to the Hilton Hotel. Bradley said.

We have a Double Tree. That is a Hilton owned hotel. The driver said.

    That’ll do driver. Bradley replied.

My name is Pedro and if you need further use of my services in the future. Please tell the dispatcher you would prefer me as your driver.

If we need a taxi again, I will ask for you Pedro.

The taxi arrived at the Double Tree Hotel and Bradley handed Pedro a hundred-dollar bill.

Keep the change. If I need you, I will call. Bradley said with a smile.

Bradley and Amber entered the hotel and proceeded to the registration desk.

Hello folks, I’m Sasha Lighten, may I be of service to you?

Good day Sasha. We would like a room for the next two nights. I would prefer one with an ocean view and has a balcony if possible. Bradley said.

Yes, I can accommodate you with an appropriate suite. Suite 1437 is available. It cost eight hundred dollars a night and is on the fourteenth floor. Are you satisfied with those arrangements? Sasha asked.

That is satisfactory. We will need laundry services and room service. Do you offer those amenities? Bradley inquired.

Yes Mr. Underwood. The hotel offers many extras to our guest. May I suggest you leave a major credit card with us. When you check out everything will be itemized and waiting for your signature when you check out.

That would be the easiest thing to do. Bradley said handing her is credit card.

After checking into their room. Amber and Bradley showered, got dressed and went down to the hotel’s restaurant. They enjoyed their seafood dinner and had a few drinks. They returned to their room and called for room service to pick up the clothes they wanted laundered.

They browsed through the many pamphlets that were in their room. They planned for an exciting day and went to sleep. Next morning, they had breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant and then started out the day they had planned the night before.

They had assembled a rather long list. They were lucky to see half of the places they had written down. However, they managed to walk down Duval Street, tour Hemingway’s House, before having lunch at a small café. After lunch the went to Mallory Square and then visited the Key West Aquarium and viewed sharks up close and personal.

All in all, it had been a very eventful and full day. They were tired when they returned to their room. Amber noticed their clothes were hanging on a rack outside their room. They had been cleaned, pressed, and put in plastic coverings for protection. Bradley took them and Amber and he entered their room and Bradley hung the items up in the closet. Bradley called room service and ordered drinks and steak dinners be delivered to their suite. Once their food arrived, they sat out on the balcony while they ate and watched the amazing sunset.

Next morning, they set out to finish the places on their to do list. By noon they had went to the Marine Museum and the Butterfly Pavilion, to name just a couple places. They had lunch and spent the afternoon on a fishing charter boat for Blue Marlin. Bradley was able to hook a marlin, but it was able to spit the hook and disappear. It was getting late in the day. Amber and Bradley returned to their suite and packed up their luggage. The called the taxi company and asked for Pedro. They went down to the lobby and met with Sasha. She had their bill totaled and waiting for Bradley’s signature. He signed it and she handed him back his credit card.

Thank you for choosing Double Tree. I hope we see you again Mr. and Mrs. Underwood.

The couple exited the hotel and Pedro was standing there holding the taxi’s door open for them.

Thank you, Pedro. Take us back to the marina. Bradley said.

Thank you. My boss said you asked for me personally. I appreciate that very much.

Pedro drove them back to the marina and Bradley once again handed Pedro a hundred-dollar bill as a tip.

Thanks Pedro, you have a great day. Amber said as she and Bradley walked away.

They went to Captain Marlin’s office and Bradley paid his mooring bill.

She is all filled up and ready to go Mr. Underwood. I checked the weather for you and it looks good for at least a week. Red said.

What’s an average length of time to get from Key West to the Bahamas? Bradley asked.

It is only about 300 miles. It usually takes twenty-four hours by boat. It will be dark in an hour. Why don’t you stay in your boat until sunrise before you leave. I will not charge you for the extra time of mooring, after the six am check out fee.

That sounds great Red. Thank you, for offering that option to us.

Amber and Bradley walked down to their boat and began getting ready for an early departure. They turned in for the night and were woken in the morning by the sounds of pelicans on a feeding binge close to their yacht. They got up and slowly pulled away from the dock and made their way out to open sea.

    OPEN SEA

They were not in a hurry to get to Nassau, so Bradley had the Life Changer at its lowest cruising speed. Amber put her bikini on and laid out on the deck. She removed her top because she did not want tan lines to show if she wore a strapless dress. Bradley studied nautical maps and plotted the best course from Key West to the Bahamas’s. He wanted to stay close to the shoreline until they were close to Miami. That was because if they needed anything, they would be close to land to obtain whatever they needed.

They were six hours into their cruise when they were startled by a voice telling them they were about to be boarded. Bradley looked up and saw a Coast Guard boat pulling alongside of his yacht. Bradley cut the engines and the Life Changer came to a dead stop. Several men boarded the yacht and approached Bradley and Amber.

Good day, folks. I am Captain Arron Spalding of the U S Coast Guard. This is just a routine stop and search. The Coast Guard’s new policy is to stop and search all boats that are in the United States twelve-mile maritime boundary. We only go into international waters if called on during an emergency. Please show me your boats registration and bill of sales and operational certificate.

Sure, I have them on the bridge, follow me, Captain Spalding. Bradley said.

The two men entered the bridge area and Bradley gave the captain the papers he wanted to see. The other Coast Guard men were searching the yacht thoroughly as their captain inspected the boats paperwork.

Everything looks good Mr. Underwood. Forgive me for asking. But has your wife ever been to Miami? She looks very familiar to me and I have been racking my brain trying to remember where I might have seen her.

It is no secret Captain. Amber use to dance at the Dreamland club in Miami many years ago. She was also the Governor of Alabama.

I knew I had seen her somewhere. She was on television several times during her campaign run for governor, that is where I have seen her. My men just signaled me they were finished searching your yacht and they found nothing questionable. You have a nice rest on your trip Mr. Underwood. Captain Spalding said stepping back on his boat, along with his men.

The Coast Guard boat sped away with a loud blast of its horn and Bradley replied with a sound of his horn. Amber removed her top again (she had put it back on when the Coast Guard boat approached) and laid out to resume getting a tan.

Bradley thought he would try his luck at fishing. Not for marlin or anything that big. He was hoping to catch a sea bass or flounder and have a fish dinner. It turned out that he was not any kind of a fisherman. He was fishing at a depth of twenty or thirty feet while the boat was still traveling towards the Bahamas. He did not know that cod, flounder, and sea bass were much deeper than that. After an hour and having no bites, he called it a day and reeled in his line. He went into the galley and started heating up some Chili.

Amber stopped tanning after she saw she was turning red. The fact was she was not having fun anylonger on the boat. She asked Bradley if he would speed up and get to Nassau as soon as possible. He did not understand her abrupt change of mind. He thought she was having a great time. He thought better than question her reasoning for her change. Bradley increased their speed and set the auto pilot.

Amber went to bed, but Bradley stayed up through the night. He did not trust the boats danger alarm for approaching boats to wake them up while on auto pilot. It was a few minutes shy of noon when Bradley slowly edged into the Nassau marina. Like Key West, the marina Harbor Master guided him to a docking slip and helped in mooring the yacht.

    NASSUA, BAHAMA’S

They called a taxi and requested the driver to take them to the Bahamian Hilton. Once there Bradley checked him and Amber into a suite. Amber wanted to go out on the town and have some fun. She wanted to go to the Baha Mar Casino. She would have liked to seen the casino that Juan Martino had built. However, it was now in the hands of mob boss Leonardo Gianelli. She did not want to run into anyone that worked closely with Mr. Gianelli.

Bradley and Amber believed that Mr. Gianelli would be in Mobile or Chicago. He was busy with the new relocation of his crime family. They thought it would be safe to check the casino out for themselves.

Amber and Bradley went to the Baha Mar Casino and enjoyed a night of roulette and Bacharach. They did not lose any money, because when all was said and done, they broke dead even. They returned to their hotel suite and were getting ready for bed; when there was a knock at their door. Amber was closest to it so she opened the door and saw Carson Heights standing there.

Amber, I heard you were here in the Bahama’s. Why didn’t you come to my casino instead of the Baha Mar casino? I thought you and I were still best of friends. What is up, girl?

I still love you Carson, but I did not want to run into Mr. Gianelli. He thinks Bradley and I are on a worldwide vacation. I do not want him to know my whereabouts, so please do not tell him you saw me.

Not a problem, Amber. I will not say a word to anyone.

Thank you, come in Carson, this is my husband, Bradley.

Nice to meet you. Carson said.

Same here. Sit down and I will have room service bring up some drinks for us. What is your poison? Bradley asked.

Nothing for me. I have got to get back to the casino, I just wanted to say hello to Amber. I did not know how long you were going to be in the Bahama’s. If you stay around for another day or two, come by my casino and we will have dinner, my treat. You do not have to worry about Mr. Gianelli being present. He never comes to the Bahama’s anymore. Since moving to Mobile he stays there to watch over all the new business’s he has there.

I will see Carson. It was nice to see you again, just watch your back. You know what happened to Juan Martino and I would be concerned if I were you. Amber said.

I am aware of the dangers working for Leonardo Gianelli. A few other people have also disappeared since Juan, but they kind of deserved it. You do not steal from the organization or talk about the business. Carson said as he departed.

Bradley and Amber went to bed. Next morning as they were eating breakfast in the hotel’s restaurant; they discussed what would be next thing to do on their agenda. They decided to stay for another three or four days and relax. Amber really did want to see Carson’s casino now that she knew Mr. Gianelli barely visited. They left the hotel and took a cab to the newly named Paradise Manor. As they entered the casino, Carson approached them.

I am so glad you came. Come with me to the Deep Blue Sea restaurant, it is the best eatery in all the Bahama’s. Carson said.

They followed him to what Amber thought was the most exquisite restaurant she had ever seen. The décor, colors and furnishings were beyond extravagant. The atmosphere was as if Queen Cleopatra was dwelling there herself.

Oh my God, Carson. This is beyond any words; I could ever express. I am speechless at this point just taking in all its beauty. Amber managed to say.

I am proud of it as well. I worked hard to get the organization to approve the money for the remodeling. One thing about Mr. Gianelli. If you have a good idea and can convince him of it. He will provide the money. This restaurant cost 2.7 million and that was to just remodel it from what Juan had offered the patrons.

Well, you did a phenomenal job Carson. You should be proud of what you have created and accomplished.

Thank you, Amber. I have a table picked out for us that overlooks the Atlantic.

They approached the table and sat down. Two waitresses quickly stood next to the table. Two waiters arrived as quickly and poured wine for everyone.

I took the privilege of ordering your meals when I saw you enter the casino. I hope that meets with your approval?

That is fine. I am sure you know the best meal on the menu. I trust you explicitly. Amber said with a nod of her head.

Carson had a large whole lobster and Bradley was served a baked sea bass covered in a cream sauce that was delicious. He did not want to appear ignorant, so he did not ask what the sauce was made of. Amber ate her meal and found it had a wonderful taste. She loved that it had been grilled and was covered in a crispy outer covering.

Carson, I must ask you. What is this delicious meal? I have never eaten anything like it before.

Are you sure you want to know? Are would you be content just knowing you loved the meal?

I must know. I want to order it again in the future. Is it something that is available anywhere?

Not everywhere, but it is in Asia, Japan, and the southern part of the Pacific Rim. It is grilled octopus and is a delicacy in many countries. I am the only restaurant in the Bahama’s that offer it on the menu. It is one of my biggest meals that is constantly ordered.

Call me surprised. I would have never guessed that in a million years. I am glad you ordered it for me Carson. I will order it next time I am in the Bahama’s.

The three sat and talked about their past and their future while downing drinks. Then suddenly three men appeared at their table.

I see you have met some old friends, Carson. How are things going on your vacation, Amber? What are the chances of seeing you here at my hotel and casino?

One in a million, I suppose. Amber said.

Mr. Gianelli, I didn’t know you were coming to the Bahama’s today. Carson muttered.

I do not have to tell you what I am doing or going. I want you to meet El Doblo and The Hammer. They are going to work here at the hotel, so get them rooms and inform the staff. What they say, everyone will do, including you, is that clear?

Perfectly Mr. Gianelli. I will get right on getting their rooms and letting the staff understand both of their position.

Nice to see you again, Governor. Enjoy your vacation. When you return to Mobile, we need to talk about a couple of businesses I am entertaining. Mr. Gianelli said as he retreated from the table.

I thought you said he never came to the Bahama’s anymore, Carson.

That’s the first time in five months, Amber, and like I said, I didn’t know he was coming today.

I am sorry Carson. I know it is not your fault. That son of a bitch scares me. I am on his shit list after I would not run for a second term as Alabama’s Governor.

Let’s lose that asshole, honey. Bradley said.

What do you have in mind, babe? Amber asked.

"Let us repaint the boat, get new registration numbers and disable the GPS. We will rename the yacht and change our names too. We can open a new bank account here in the Bahama’s under our new name. We can transfer money from our existing account to the new one.

Stoney can keep depositing money in our secret account. He knows we withdraw funds from it as needed. That is all the privileges he has. He cannot see or find where the withdrawn money goes. He just thinks we are taking it as planned.

We can let him know we will be traveling to Jamacia and Aruba. But we will go somewhere in the opposite direction. What do you think baby"?

Carson, do you know someone that can repaint our boat and keep their mouth shut for a very good price? Do you know anyone at the registration bureau that will not ask questions about our new names? Amber asked.

I can help you with all those issues. I know they will not say a word and will do everything on the down low. Give me a day or two to contact them and set up a meeting with all concerned. Carson said.

Thank you, Carson. We will go back to our hotel and wait for you to call us with the when and where’s.

They returned to their hotel room. Amber grew more concerned by the minute. She could not stop thinking about what Leonardo had said or what he might want from her. Once she had made the decision to not return to Mobile, she relaxed and went to sleep.

For the next two days Amber laid out at the pool taking in some warm sun rays. She was developing a nice brown tan, much to her liking. Bradley on the other hand went fishing on an all-day charter boat. At night they both went to the Baha Mar Casino and played slots most of the night. However, Bradley did play Texas Hold’Em and lost close to a hundred thousand dollars. That did not make Amber very happy, even though they could easily afford the loss.

Finally, Carson called Amber and arranged a meeting with the people needed to do the yacht’s remodeling. They met at an out of the way restaurant so they would not jeopardize their meeting. The last thing they wanted was to be recognized and word get back to El Doblo or The Hammer. They gathered in the restaurant’s banquet room and had several pitchers of
