CHAPTER 1 CHANGING THE WORD OF GOD , A GREAT SIN

The Word of God, as revealed in the Scriptures, holds immense significance for believers. It is considered sacred and authoritative, serving as a guide for faith and practice. It is a great sin to alter or change God’s Word. This chapter explores why changing the Word of God is considered a severe offence and its implications on one’s faith and relationship with God.

The Bible is believed to be divinely inspired, meaning it is the product of God’s revelation to humanity. As such, it is considered infallible. Changing the Word of God undermines its divine origin and distorts its intended message. It violates the trust and reverence we should have for God’s Word.

The Bible is not just a collection of human writings; God inspires it. The Holy Spirit guided the authors of the Bible to write the words of God. This divine inspiration sets the Bible apart from any other book and gives it authority and significance. Changing the Word of God would be equivalent to altering the message God intended to convey to humanity.

2 Timothy 3:16: All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. 

The Bible is considered to be trustworthy and reliable. It has been preserved throughout history, and its message has remained consistent. Changing the Word of God would undermine its trustworthiness and raise doubts about its accuracy and authenticity. As believers, we rely on the Bible as a source of truth and guidance. Acts 4:12: Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.

Matthew 1:21: She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Yeshuah because he will save his people from their sins.

Revelation 22:18-19: I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and the Holy City described in this scroll.

2 Timothy 2:15: Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and correctly handles the word of truth.

This divine encounter, as described in Luke 1:26-27, initiated a profound revelation that would ultimately lead to the birth of Yeshuah, the world’s Savior.
