About this ebook

In the culminating dialogue of the Lux Eorum series, the eminent philosophers converge in a transcendent symposium, entwining their intellectual threads to unravel the enigma of love. As the ethereal atmosphere pulsates with the weight of collective wisdom, the young thinkers, each a luminary in their own right, step forward to articulate their nuanced perspectives on this perennial subject.

The discourse on love transcends the mundane boundaries of romantic entanglements; it delves into the very fabric of human existence and the universal essence that binds all sentient beings. The philosophers navigate the labyrinth of emotions, dissecting the intricacies of connection and unveiling the profound tapestry of human relationships.

At the heart of the dialogue is a quest to fathom the essence of love—an exploration that spans the spectrum of metaphysics, psychology, and existentialism. The young minds, armed with diverse philosophical arsenals, engage in a cerebral dance, each pirouette bringing them closer to the elusive truth that defines love.

Some philosophers posit love as an evolutionary imperative, a force that binds individuals for the preservation of the species. Others, drawing inspiration from existentialist musings, argue that love is a subjective construct, shaped by the unique amalgamation of experiences and perceptions within each individual.

The dialogue does not shy away from delving into the metaphysical realm, with some proposing that love is the very fabric of the universe—a cosmic force that propels the celestial bodies and orchestrates the cosmic ballet. The exploration of love's connection to the broader cosmos adds a celestial dimension to the debate, elevating it beyond the terrestrial confines of everyday human experiences.

As the dialogue unfolds, the philosophers engage in a spirited exchange, challenging and complementing each other's ideas. The symposium becomes a crucible of intellectual rigor, where ideas clash and merge, forging a collective understanding that transcends the sum of individual perspectives.

In the denouement, the philosophers, having traversed the vast landscape of love's complexities, find a semblance of unity. While the nature of love remains elusive and multifaceted, the dialogue concludes with a shared acknowledgment—a humble acceptance that the journey toward understanding love is as enriching as the destination itself. The Lux Eorum series thus culminates in an intellectual crescendo, leaving a resonant echo that reverberates through the corridors of philosophical inquiry.

    Lux Eorum - TSVETY

As the day waned, this solitary diurnal orbit, etched upon myriad living fragments, quietly bent towards the anonymity of darkness, intertwining with the narratives inscribing this fleeting chapter in the perpetual dance of sunlight's pursuit. The verdant hues of afternoon grass deepened, caressed by the departing shadow of the sun, portending its descent into the obsidian recesses of quiescence. Imminent.

Figures, mere silhouettes, slid along resounding marble corridors, their elongated forms tracing the withdrawal of light. Noisy footsteps echoed, souls tethered to an invisible locus, irresistibly drawn by the gravitational pull of a cryptic summons. From the North, where darkness and stillness prevailed, the first ripples of restless shadows disturbed the tranquility of the mystical Entrance. The voices, scattered and youthful, wove declamations, fragments of discourse converging towards an unseen confluence. There, all cacophony would culminate in anticipated silence. But not yet. The ecstatic tumult abounded with various topics. Within the frenzied crowd, the figures of the illustrious Kobe and Inga, the distinguished Dean Illis, and benevolent Mrs. Calming traversed amid students and fervent adherents, ignited by the fervor of expectation.

Closer scrutiny revealed that the exalted assembly was well-acquainted, engaged in myriad unrelated conversations. All, whether invited or not, vied for a mere glimpse of the imminent spectacle, destined to unfold that very evening in the Great Hall. In the wake of the vibrant procession, Janse and Sally discreetly approached the Library's gate, immersed in profound contemplation, their steps accompanied by silence.

To the South, another wave of speculative enthusiasts approached the colossal ancient edifice. The stone corridors amidst the golden alleys concealed the identities of the conversing wayfarers, yet the voices of celebrated Faculty members could be discerned. Aristo's baritone resonated from afar, and May's laughter, a luminous presence in the predominantly male sonorous atmosphere, dispersed the obsidian clouds along their path, illuminating all with its imperceptible radiance.

Is everyone present? intoned a stern voice from a tall, elderly gentleman.

No, not yet, Professor Ardent, responded a nearby youth, his tone tinged with timidity. Most of us are just arriving.

Make haste! Professor Ardent exhorted, waving his arms in an intricate dance of shapes indecipherable to onlookers. We should commence soon!

This timely reminder prompted a sudden surge of bustling activity and resulted in a tumultuous stir among the assembling throng. There is still time. Why this rush? murmurs arose, kindling a spirit of protest among the fervent assembly. The night is young. We have hours to converse! many concurred.

Students shall not linger, I assure you! The question is—are the professors prepared? retorted a distant figure, a shadow in swift reaction. The comment elicited widespread approval.

I am certain we are, my dear Pascal! Professor Ardent proclaimed loudly, ensuring his words reached all ears.

Contrary to the fading earthly body of the sun, Pascal and Diego ascended from the darkened stairs of the Old Library entrance. The Eastern Gate loomed above them as a primordial sentinel, poised to open and draw in the spirits of the gathered assembly.

In that very moment, the aged Dean Illis approached the Gate, panting, his unwieldy form swaying in all directions as he clutched a jingling cluster of ancient keys, resembling a jester's collection of medieval, rusted daggers. His disordered array of seemingly identical keys offered little assistance in the timely initiation of the ceremony.

Oh, Salister, it is good to see you! Professor Ardent remarked coolly, addressing his elder's belated arrival.

At last, I am here! Thank God for that! the scarcely articulate Dean declared, breathing in irregular intervals. There will be a Debate tonight! He struck the keys emphatically, hoisting them as a trophy of a historic triumph. And that was not certain, for only I can unlock that door! Illis demonstrated to the hushed assembly how a man of his age could retain an intact set of robust, healthy teeth.

With the resounding creak of the unlocking Gate, a wave of darkened bodies inundated every void of the empty space like a released fluid after an explosion. The meandering processions of young philosophers mirrored converging river flows, merging into a unified current within the vast, still Ocean.

From the East, bearing Dawn's purifying potency, the first to enter were the restless spirits of Pascal, Diego, and their companions, standing guard at the Gate facing all beginnings and novelty. Their astute minds were poised to confront the myriad inquiries concealed behind the archway of the Old Library's mysterious entrance. The throng of shadowed figures inundated the entrance, fully consumed by the tumultuous swirl of bodies and discussions. In mind and spirit, the debate had already commenced.

The Northern alley, shrouded in the enigmatic mist of contemplative thinkers, advanced. Elevated by the profound musings on the impending event, its silhouettes mirrored the footsteps of their Eastern counterparts. The convergence of voices and forms ushered the two young ladies—whose presence had captivated the minds of the media during their journey to the Library—finally into the much-coveted Hall. Sally's slender frame loomed over her unidentifiable companions, fellow travelers on the road to the concealed entrance, each with unique steps toward the common destination. Amid the inquisitive invitees surrounding them, Sally and Janse responded with solemn silence. For those traversing the conversationalists' path from the Northern stream, illuminated solely by the perennial Evening Star, the road mystically culminated, bringing Sally and Janse to their sanctuary.

The Dispute, a venerable tradition marking the symbolic culmination of each academic year, epitomized the Faculty members' mastery in crafting profound and constructive arguments. Its origins were obscured by the mists of time, as ancient as the venerable Library itself—a tribune open to the thoughts of those who had dedicated themselves to the creation of a world defined by meaningful self-expression. Over time, the Great Debate evolved into a night when the eminent figures of the Faculty would assemble, engaging in a free and collaborative discourse on a topic of collective importance. The debate embodied the harmonious union of the youngest and oldest, and those in between, all genuinely touched by philosophy. It was a night of shared revelations and unexpected encounters with profoundly divergent thoughts. For each Faculty member, the debate was a treasure trove of wisdom, an unmissable event in the speculative realm. The Night of the Dispute was eagerly awaited and celebrated in grand gatherings. The uninvited became silent witnesses, yearning to partake in this congregation of thought, aspiring to the day when their theoretical acumen would merit an invitation.

The sinuous currents of shadowy figures generated undulating waves of sound, each pulsating with the desire for shared wisdom, varying in intensity along their meandering paths. Amid the almost imperceptible but resonant silhouettes, natural epicenters of tension formed, akin to swirling black holes stitched into the sea of inert dark matter. Motion seemed swifter and more intense at certain points, thick with the sounds of antithetical voices—frail and lucid, foiled yet confident—all converging toward a goal recognized, feared, and deserved by their speculative endeavors.

Darkness and trepidation pervaded the multitudes of invisible spirits within the Hall's corridors. Then, in the blink of an eye, everything changed.

Light! Radiance emerged from all directions, obliterating the tumult and illusion of fear. Colossal torches adorned the lustrous marble walls, their polished countenance interwoven with the golden veins of noble stone. These mighty beacons emitted oscillating waves of brilliance, flickering and dancing to dispel the shadows, triumphing over all vestiges of darkness.

The young philosophers' final movements were accompanied by a collective sigh and a resonant welcome, as the luminous spectacle unfolded before them.

Hail, intrepid companions! An almost startling salutation resonated, heralded by the dramatically adroit Aristo, a speculative magician whose potent words evoked volcanic eruptions and unfurled cosmic voids, stirring the very essence around his radiant aura. He, too, had come to a standstill in the midst of the Great Hall upon the arrival of his disembarking colleagues. Janse, Sally! the young man intoned. A meeting that warms my philosophical heart!"

Indeed! Janse leaned forward, cordially kissing him on the cold, almost fleshless cheek. I came to seek you out first, and then those audacious enough to join you. She rewarded Aristo with a generous smile and extended greetings to the rest of his companions.

With the cessation of their migration, the great procession toward the heart of the Ancient Hall facilitated encounters among uplifted spirits, casting an immediate effect that electrified the atmosphere. Energies now intermingled in a different manner, shifting the balances between the interlocutors and altering the considerations of their discourse. The unpredictable rendezvous redirected the focus of the assembled thoughts, rendering a return to their prior state impossible. The fervor surrounding the Great Dispute now concentrated in its native meeting place, and with the compression of space, tension burgeoned.

No seating was provided, for the event did not beckon repose but rather active participation. The sides of its nearly circular structure ascended gracefully like the tiers of an ancient amphitheatre, the void beneath the ornamented ceiling and the antique wooden stage interrupted only by banisters for the interlocutors to grasp if they felt so inclined.

Instinctively, the invitees chose their stations along the ascending
