Chapter One

Raisa gazed up at the star-studded sky, taking in the warm ambiance of the night. She climbed the steep mountains in search for the clearest view of the stars, and she kept going determined to uncover a front row seat.

The day had almost passed, and she finally found the cliffside view she had been looking for. The sight was breathtaking, the beauty of the dense forest below her went beyond, expanding across the horizon. The starry night sky enveloping her in a comforting embrace.

She could breathe the fresh air that that hit her like a drug to her senses like it once was everywhere when she was a child. Raisa lived a simple life away from the city as a child. She loved lying on the grass in her family's suburban cottage, staring up at the sky during the day. She relished the solitude and the opportunity to fully immerse herself in nature.

She loved to wander whenever she could find the time. She hiked and did all the hard work she was going to do for the night and relaxed. She popped open a bottle of beer, leaned back on her arms, and took slow sips as her mind wandered. The cool night air and the sound of the whistling wind were a welcome change from the noise of the city. She felt as though the pollution was being cleansed from her body and soul.

As the clock approached midnight, Raisa knew the shooting star would be arriving soon. Despite her exhaustion from the hike and her sore muscles, she fought to stay awake, not wanting to miss the celestial event.

Raisa sat alone on the cliffside, taking in the stillness and serenity of the night. Suddenly, a snapping twig nearby caught her attention, jolting her back to reality. She cautiously got up to investigate, but the height of the cliff made her quickly retreat. Her safety was her top priority, and she couldn't risk falling.

The sudden noise set off alarm bells in her mind, and she couldn't shake the feeling that someone or something was watching her. She scanned her surroundings, but saw nothing out of the ordinary. Despite her fear, she didn't want to miss the shooting star, but her safety was paramount.

She waited a few moments longer, straining her ears for any other suspicious sounds. When nothing else emerged, she dismissed the noise as a random branch breaking. She settled back down and refocused her attention on the sky, but the shooting star failed to appear.

Raisa was a little disappointed, especially after spending the entire day hiking to this spot. But she didn't let it dampen her spirits. She opened another beer and tried to relax, holding onto a glimmer of hope.

As she sat there, the eerie feeling of being watched persisted. She heard rustling in the darkness and her nerves were on edge. The alcohol flowed through her veins, giving her a false sense of boldness. She shouted out into the darkness, challenging whatever was lurking nearby to reveal themselves.

When there was no response, she shrugged it off and chugged the rest of her beer. Raisa may not have seen the shooting star, but she was determined not to let the eerie feeling
