About this ebook
Richard Thompson's Cul de Sac follows the antics of four-year-old Alice Otterloop as she navigates her way through her suburban town and life's ups and downs at Blisshaven Preschool. More than half of our nation's population resides in the burbs, and suburbanites everywhere will easily recognize Cul de Sac's tree-lined streets, big-box retail stores, and kiddy crunchy cereals, along with the revealing backseat conversations between Alice and her brother.
Thompson's paintbrush captures humorously poignant and reflectively thoughtful watercolor scenes that offer commentary on life and how we choose to live it. Appearing in more than 100 newspapers, Cul de Sac has garnered Thompson critical praise from both the National Cartoonists Society and the Society of Illustrators.

- Rating: 5 out of 5 stars5/5I'll go out on a limb here and say that this is the best comic strip being produced now, and the one most likely to be considered a classic decades from now. There's just something about its quiet, quirky charm and humor, and the art is tinged with a carefree mastery that looks a lot easier than it really is. In fact, almost every strip is a small work of art and humor. I've no idea why it hasn't caught on as "Calvin and Hobbes" did, except that the humor here is not usually as gut-bustingly milk-snorting-out-the-nose as that worthy strip, or "Zits", another fine strip. The author strikes me as a patient sort, who is having a wonderful time while waiting to strike gold. I hope he'll continue for many years to come.
