About this ebook
York Winter and his packmates are attacked by a rivaling werewolf pack at a lumberyard. Injured and exhausted, York runs into a part of town he's not familiar with, and when the enemy is closing in, he takes his chances and escapes into a bear-owned bakery.
Torbjorn Holt doesn't do people, and he doesn't do wolves no matter what the pull in his heart is trying to tell him. He's learned his lesson and will not have wolves in the bakery, and he'll definitely not mate one. Luckily, York isn't too badly injured, so Torbjorn doesn't feel bad about kicking him out into the rain.
York can't believe what's happening. He’s finally found his mate, but Torbjorn refuses to let him stay. Torbjorn will never trust a wolf again, and if York doesn't leave soon, he'll knock him out with a rolling pin and dump him in the alley. York has to make Torbjorn understand he means him no harm, but how will he do that when Torbjorn refuses to talk to him?

Chapter 1
Pain exploded as claws tore the skin on York Winter’s chest. He hit blindly, his claws finding their target, but York didn’t know how much damage he dealt. The rain was thick enough to isolate him despite the sounds of his packmates fighting by his side.
York!
He looked to his left and saw Roarak Halfhide, his alpha, come toward him. He was bloody but didn’t look gravely hurt. We need to run. There are too many of them.
The last part was growled. Their low number was a problem, and Roarak worried about them not being able to hold the small area of land they’d carved out as theirs. They all did, but since Roarak was the alpha, he’d be the one to decide if they should fight or run.
York didn’t want to run. He’d left his old pack before he could get stuck in a mating he didn’t want and obligations he couldn’t outrun. For a little over a year, he’d been on his own, but then he’d met Falcon who had met Roarak.
York hadn’t expected to be free. He’d been sure they’d fall into old pack hierarchies, and the first time they got a whiff of him not being entirely straight, he’d have to run again. But it never happened. Some days he wondered if they were all queer, but old habits die hard, and no one was willing to talk. When you’d hidden for decades, it was hard to come out despite being sure it would be safe now. Heck, both Roarak and Zev had gotten themselves male lovers and no one had been killed.
Everyone still standing?
Roarak nodded. We meet—
He cut himself off, his attention shifting to behind York. Something crashed into him, and York went down on the wet ground. Fur blocked his view before a wolf snarled in his face. York flung up his right arm for protection and sharp teeth dug into his flesh.
He growled, hit and kicked, and bucked to get the weight off him. The teeth tore at his arm, causing more damage than he could afford right now.
A bark sounded in the waning afternoon and everyone stilled. Zev. A chill went through York, but he used the moment to his advantage, rolled, and managed to get to his feet.
A second bark sounded
