For my loving parents who taught me
to turn to Jesus in everything
For the friends that encouraged (and pressured)
me to share when I was too scared to
And for my Good Shepherd, without whom this
book and the story within would not exist
But now, thus says the LORD,
he who created you, O Jacob,
he who formed you, O Israel:
"Fear not, for I have redeemed you;
I have called you by name, you are mine.
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you;
when you walk through fire you will not be burned,
and the flame shall not consume you.
For I am the LORD your God,
the Holy One of Israel, your Savior."

to go with me wherever I went.
Life gave me laughter to lighten my load.
Life gave me love, provision, safety:
from the day that I was born.
Life seemed so beautiful as I pulled my red wagon.
It didn’t weigh much,
but sometimes it’d get stuck, and a little rock
would set it free.
Life gave me music to lift my spirits and make me want to sing.
Life gave me schooling to learn about my world.
Life gave me pain when I fell and scraped my knee.
