About this ebook

It was 1984, and the humans were busy having a dick measuring competition to see who could build the largest arsenal to destroy the world. Regan was ramping up his War on Drugs, and Chernenko had pulled out of the Olympics in protest to the Americans having skipped the 1980 Olympics. And to top it all off, America's favorite burger chain was losing millions, handing out free food.

In the midst of the chaos, Rufus took me on my first vampire hunt.

This is that story.

    AUTHOR'S NOTES

    February 3rd, 2021

This short story functions as a prequel to the main series coming out later. It was a flashback sequence I thought worked better as a standalone, than actually shoehorned into the first novel.

For those of you who’ve been following my career for a while now, you’ll notice a lot of the same themes, with a huge dose of my humor thrown in. The decision to switch to first person point-of-view from third person wasn’t one I made lightly. At first, I found it unsettling to be closely in the head of the character, but after fifty thousand words, I found myself relaxing into it.

I hope you enjoy the chance of pace.

    ACKNOWLEDGMENTS

To all of my readers for understanding that I need to make a change. This past month has been the best writing period of my life. I hope you enjoy reading this new series as much as I’ve enjoyed writing it.
