    Chapter 1

    Off Season

    Rosemary Alimoris

It was 1892 and a thunderstorm was brewing throughout the night. A woman by the name of Rosemary Alimoris had been walking the streets, barefoot. Her clothes were ratted as was her cloak, underneath her cloak were her two boys.

Blake and Alden, twins, were both cold and hungry. She tried her best to find them shelter and food, for they had been running from her husband. The man was abusive and a drunk, from whom she had bruises upon her face and other parts of her body. She tiredly walked onward looking for places to stay but to no avail. She had found herself in a town that was called Upírstad, which in translations says Vampire City; she knew nothing about the city or what it was really named. She continued onward until she came across a place called Majesco Bar. She entered and went to the bar owner. Excuse me, sir, I am lost within this city, I do not know where I might find an Inn, if you could possibly help me out, I would be forever grateful, she said her eyes were very beautiful, like looking into an ocean.

The man looked at her. Yes, I may help you, if you continue on down this road, it may take you to a hotel, Hôtel de Cauchemar is the name, my brother owns it, he explained. Shall I call the hotel and a ride for you to get there? he asked. His language was that of an English man, it was as though he was raised in the United Kingdom.

The woman shook her head. No, I will be fine, thank you, she said while she exited the bar with her boys and began to walk toward the place on which she was told.

She began to grow tired as were her boys, since the walk was long. It started to rain hard as she took her boys and ran toward the building.

Once in the building, she noticed the place actually looked cozy and pleasant, but it also looked quite expensive to stay in.

    Jericho Bludspri

It was a quiet night for Jericho, the night was horrible, and the hotel was quiet. It was not open season, but he kept his front doors open for anyone. Jericho was not expecting anyone to come in that day, let alone have his brother send anyone his way. Jericho had a nice rare steak made out just kissed by the flame on each side and a glass of red wine and one blood fruit. He was having a candlelight dinner since the lights went out and he could not just go out to the generator and not eat first. He was just ready to take a bite of his meal when he heard the sounds of the service bell ringing from reception lobby. He got up slightly swearing under his breath. "Ce mieux être bon, et meilleur valoir l’attente, baisant des connards," he cursed and spoke in a French language.

    Both

When he got to the reception lobby, he saw a woman in rags. Bonjour, Mademoiselle, how may I help you? Jericho asked her.

The woman looked at him. I apologize, Monsieur, you must have been busy at some point, but I am desperate for a place to stay, I need food, and a place to sleep, the woman said to him.

Jericho smiled softly at her. "Oui, Mademoiselle, all I need from you is a signature here in this here guest book," Jericho said to her. She nodded picked up a pen and began to sign her name. She did not lower her hood from her cloak, as her hand glided across the parchment of the guest book. Jericho watched the woman and looked to the name as he always did to know the names of his guests.

Rosemary Alimoris, Jericho spoke out her name as if it were poetry. Rosemary looked up at Jericho with her ocean eyes.

I am sorry for troubling you, I shall take my leave, Rosemary said to him taking her boys by the hand and walking toward the door. Rosemary had feared for her life at that moment of people knowing her name, fearing that they would speak about her in town and that would get to her husband and he would come to find her only to drag her out and kill her. Jericho watched her in confusion then raced to the door as quickly as he could, closing the door on her and preventing her from leaving. Non, Mademoiselle, I Demander pardon, forgive me, I did not mean to offend you at all, your name it is very beautiful, as are your eyes,

Jericho spoke looking into her eyes. Please, Mademoiselle, I would love it if you could stay here at this hotel, Jericho begged her. Rosemary looked into his eyes searching for pure sincerity. I beg of you, Mademoiselle, and promise to you, that there will be no harm done, please, he said to her his hand reaching out to her. Hotel De Cauchemar is a place for rest, relaxation, and absolute trust. I abide to you that you and your deux boys shall be safe within my hotel, Jericho spoke out to her his head bowing to her. Rosemary’s hands shook for a bit and hesitated to taking his hand, but reluctantly she did.

She took in a deep breath before she decided to speak out toward Jericho. Alright, I shall stay, but only on one condition – my boys get the best of everything. I care not for my own health or desires, but I care for my children’s own happiness, she told him straight out.

Jericho made a cross upon his heart. I promise to you that they will have a happy time here, Jericho said to her.

He went away from the door and took her to the reception desk and took out two sets of keys. Mademoiselle, and young Maîtres, please follow me, Jericho said to them calmly, walking to the flight of stairs. Rosemary followed the man with her two sons clinging onto her. The boys must have been no older than five or six years of age, and the woman must have been only 30 years young. She was a witch and a good one, just never practiced in placing curses or wanted to harm anyone. She just was someone who could make things grow, and make magic happen with charms and enchantments. Jericho on the other hand was a vampire. No, he was not bitten to becoming a vampire, but he was born one. Jericho took them down some dark corridors for them to find their rooms, with a single candle. I must demand ’er pardon again for the lack of electricity within le rooms but le lightning struck and blew out my electricity, now I must rely upon le fire places, and le candle lights along with le oil lamps for tonight, Jericho said to Rosemary walking down the hallway, until he came upon two rooms.

"Here we are your chambres à coucher, Jericho said to the two boys, opening the door only to reveal a bedroom for children, they had pirate beds and other goods within the room. I hope this is to your likings, Jericho said to the young masters of his hotel. The two boys’ eyes lit up and they ran in and soon began to jump on their beds. Jericho smiled and enjoyed hearing them laugh. He soon turned to Rosemary. And now for you, Jericho said to her opening up a door that was not far from her sons. It was a luxurious bedroom for her. Within this chambre à coucher of yours, you shall find an enjoyable bathtub, le fireplace, and le king-sized bed, fit for a queen," Jericho told her.

Rosemary looked to him with a shocked look. Th-thank you, Monsieur…this is…all so wonderful, she said. She was almost in tears from the kindness he was showing her.

It is not so much trouble. Now, freshen up. There shall be some fresh clothing for you and your two sons, shoes, along with socks. Wash up and come down for some dinner. The parlor shall do, Jericho told her bowing to her before he left her to give her privacy.

    Rosemary

She did not even know how to even thank him, let alone know what to even say. This was all too much for her. Rosemary did as he asked of her. She got into the bathtub, scrubbed herself clean, even washed her hair, in the nice hot water. Candlelight and a hot bubble bath. It was relaxing and it smelt of sweet strawberry champagne.

After she was done, she got herself dressed. Getting herself in nice high heels, and a beautiful gown. She put her hair up in a half bun, placing a hair clip into her hair. Then adding a bit of perfume to her wrist and neck. Rosemary made herself up and did not even know why she was doing all of this. He was only a man who had nothing to do with her. She got up from her mirror desk that was within her own private bathroom and went to her boys’ room.

Blake, Alden, you two have to wash up and get dressed, she told them softly with a comforting smile.

Yes, Mama, they both said, jumping off their beds and rushing to the bathroom, where Rosemary filled the bathtub for them both and helped them get undressed. She helped them wash up as any other mother would do. She washed their backs the places on which they themselves could not get alone. She even washed behind their ears and their faces. Once they were done, they got up and dried off. Rosemary helped them with that as well, making sure that they were completely dry. They soon got dressed in their new clothes and went on down the stairs to where Jericho had told them to go.

    Jericho

Jericho went into the kitchen and began to make them a nice hot meal for the mother and her two young children. He had prepared for the boys Poulet frites (chicken and fries) with two Shirley Temple drinks and for their mother he had something special. Pommes duchesse and coq au vin along with red wine. Jericho made the dishes fancy and was already preparing the desserts for her and her sons.

When they got down, he greeted them. Ah, Mademoiselle, and young Maîtres, Jericho said to them, while he led them to their table, pulling out their chairs and allowing them to sit down. He walked away and came back with a trolley with dishes just for them, and them dishes were hot. "Bon Appétit, he told them bowing to them. When you are done, I shall return to take your dishes away to wash, then come back with some dessert for all of you," Jericho told them before he walked away. He went back to his own meal to finish. Once he was done, he got up and went to their rooms to give them fresh sheets, blankets, pillow slips, along with all their bathroom necessities that they needed. He placed chocolates upon their pillows before leaving the room to make some phone calling. He dialed the number to his brother, getting through from the directory.

Bonjour, is Ethan there? Jericho asked a woman who was a worker within his brother’s bar. He waited for his brother to pick up. Once he did Jericho had a smile upon his face. Ethan, I have a favor to ask of you. I have trois people within my hotel, and I would very much like it if I could ask of you, to go out and buy me a few nice outfits. Trois beautiful gowns, le most costly ones, and outfits for little boys. I will be gladly to pay you back, Jericho told his brother.

Once the agreement had passed, Jericho hung up and went down the stairs to check upon his new guests. He had taken a liking to the woman. It had been a long time since an attractive young woman had come into the hotel. He would actually want her to stay and become his mate. But, seeing the two boys there and the ring upon her left hand he had thought that she had a husband. Not knowing the whole story, he decided to leave it be and just admire her from afar.

    Both

Jericho soon walked up to the woman. How are you enjoying your meals? he asked the three.

Rosemary looked up and smiled with nearly her mouthful, and her sons with messy faces. "Mm…this is
