About this ebook
The dream that woke Daniel had etched its tangibility on his mind, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't elude it. Knowing he won't be sleeping normal anymore, Daniel, played music on his stereo, and went to take a shower. As the warm water traced on his body. He harmonized to classic rock music that was booming in his house. When he stepped out of the shower he noticed a supernatural presence lingered in every corner. Now there was no place for him to hide.

He grew up in Chicago and Michigan, and joined the Army, not even the elite forces that he served with or many wars that he fought in. Would have him prepared for what he would encounter. He was a well traveled adventure thrill seeker and business owner, that helped many less fortunate people. After a series of extraordinary events, everything would change for him. Romans 10:9–10
Simple as this, confess with your mouth that the Lord Jesus Christ is your savior, ask him to forgive you of your wrong doings, and believe in your heart that God has raised him from the dead, you will be saved, for eternity.
For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confessions are made unto salvation

Chapter 1
The Wake-Up Call
As the profound silence, mixed with the lurking placidity, spread its expanse, meddling emotions washed over Daniel. He opened his eyes in dread and found himself drenched in sweat. It was another cold night in Atlanta, and amid the city, sleeping soundly, Daniel was in a state of pensiveness. He looked beside him and found no woman sleeping on the other side of his king-sized bed. Being a party animal, he often brought women home and would live his life to the fullest, drinking, gambling, and coupling, but this hadn't been the case with him recently.
As most Christians would call it, Daniel's life was incredible in the world, and there was nothing he couldn't do. He had plenty of money, and the productive business stock market was exceptionally good for him. Daniel also owned many puppies. He would breed and bring an income of $200k per year on top of his stocks in the stock market and his nightclub. The world was fun and exciting for him. He had many friends, and people loved to hang around with him. Daniel was well traveled and had been to Berlin, Rome, Venice, Florence, Amsterdam, Denmark, Mosco, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Thailand, Mexico, Bahamas, Jamaica, etc. Embarking on a vacation at least twice a year had become a routine for him. Every time he felt an abrupt urge to reconnect with the world and nature, he would travel and appreciate its beauty. His life was like a rich ruler's life because he had everything he could have ever wanted, though he never paid attention to God, the creator of everything. After all, God had already blessed him with whatever he needed, and people only tend to remember God when they need him the most.
The mellow moonlight had cast a shadow of the frame of his room's louvered window on the floor, and the nocturnal animals were making everyone aware of their presence. Daniel sat on his bed and hysterically raked his fingers through his hair. What is happening to me?
he whispered to himself.
Daniel poured himself a glass of water from the jug he always kept on his side table. He chugged the water in one go and breathed a deep sigh. He took his tank top off and tossed it in the corner, where all his dirty clothes were piled up.
The dream that woke him had etched its tangibility on his mind, and no matter how hard he tried, he couldn't elude it. Knowing he won't be sleeping anymore, Daniel played music on his phone and went to take a shower. As the warm water traced down his body down to the clogged drains, he harmonized to smooth jazz music that was booming in his house.
As Daniel was calming down, his dogs started barking, breaking the acute silence. He immediately got out of the shower and wrapped a towel around his waist. He let the music play and stood in front of his window that overlooked his backyard. Instead of feeling any threat, Daniel sensed encroaching tranquility in the cold breeze. Daniel's dogs were circling their kennel impatiently. The smell of winter lingered in the atmosphere, and a streetlight flickered in front of his house.
Daniel closed the window and put on fresh T-shirt and trousers. He leaned back against his bed, turned off the music, and thought about all the events that were taking place before him. Even though Daniel had many friends, he bottled up everything going on in his life because he didn't want to sound insane. But he was bothered, and he acknowledged that.
Never did Daniel imagine once in life that he would change and find himself enter the kingdom of God one day. He never thought his eyes would open up and the dark scales would fall off. He had been living in this world for years, not paying attention to any spiritual realm that surrounded him, though his eyes opened up when God's voice circled his ears. Back then, Daniel was still young and oblivious to how mysteriously God worked. He never thought humans could directly encounter God until the sudden experience sent chills down his spine.
To make himself feel better about the events that were going on in his life, Daniel turned on his laptop and decided to write about his experiences. Although he couldn't talk to anyone about it, Daniel knew he could write a book about his experiences. With this book, he aspired to show how God came into his life by a significant encounter, how he convicted him, and how he personally received salvation from him. Daniel also wanted to tell people how God wanted to have a personal relationship with us and how he could deliver us from any situation.
So he wrote:
I was living an extraordinary life away from God, making money and having fun. I had thousands of dollars in the stock market, and I also owned a club called Paradise, the only nightclub with five operating nights. I made more than $2.5 million a year, living the best life. I was an international player and was seeing many women. Even though I was living a life people would dream of, the emptiness inside me was expanding, and I didn't know how to fill it until one day, I was obstructed by a voice. It was God, directly speaking to me.
After living years under the Almighty's shadow, a sudden urge roared inside me. A few hours ago, I just woke up from a dream. I was standing in front of a tall wall in that dream, and a few words were etched on its surface. Don't hide,
I read. Suddenly, everything fell apart, and I was standing in a dark room. And a few seconds later, I opened my eyes. The dream was a direct implication to tell people about the relationship we have. Hence, I decided to write this book.
From this book, I want to inspire my readers to learn how the gifts from God worked for me and how he used them for other people and his purpose. I want them to know how God spoke to me in the heart, how he liberated me, gave me the power to turn my thoughts into reality, and how he blessed me with the ability to heal from any sickness. And most importantly, how he, indeed, is your best friend.
After writing these three paragraphs, Daniel shut his laptop closed, began to reminisce his past, and narrowed down notions of how he would write this book. An idea of writing a book had bloomed in his mind, though gathering every constituent of life was still a challenge. Daniel closed his eyes, his thoughts racing. With a smile, he opened his eyes after a few minutes. He opened his laptop and again began writing.
Chapter 2
The Beginning
Chicago, Illinois
Daniel, come on!
Daniel's brother called him, running across Lake Michigan. Daniel and his brother, Deandre, were young boys, full of youth and energy that drove their parents crazy.
This was one of Daniel's memories while sitting on his bed, tracing his life. A smile adorned his face. However, he had to go way more back than that to familiarize his reader with his life, so he searched for memories. Eventually, though he couldn't remember who told him, he remembered the details from birth.
On December 13, 1966, he was born in Cook Country Hospital, Chicago, and was immediately named Daniel by his mother.
His mother, Myrtle Marie, was a beautiful lady. She was slim and stood five feet and seven inches tall. She had long jet-black hair that was liberated down to her shoulders. Often, she would wear her hair in an Afro. Myrtle was married twice to two good men who were great fathers and husbands.
Although Daniel didn't know who his biological father was, he never felt the need to figure that out as a child. He was showered with all the love he could need. However, his mother told him that his name was James Terrell. As he got older, he started asking more questions about his biological father, and that was when Daniel noticed that his two younger brothers, Deandre and Lorenzo, were darker than him, so he assumed his dad was a White man. After insisting, Daniel's mother gave him an old black-and-white photograph of his father. It wasn't clear, but Daniel could see the resemblance.
They lived in Chicago for eight years, and Myrtle was married to James Alexander at that time. He was an amazing husband and a father. He was also the biological father of Deandre and Lorenzo. James Alexander treated Daniel the same way he treated his two sons, with love and care. Actually, they got along very well and made a happy living in Chicago. Daniel had a good life when his mom was married to James Alexander for the man he was. He was a hard worker and a successful businessman who fathered Daniel since he was born and always considered him his oldest son. He owned a burger spot called Fat Burger, and those were some delicious burgers.
Myrtle worked in Cook Country Hospital as a nurse. James would often take his sons to pick their mother up from work late at night. They would patiently wait in the car, play games like I eye spy or truth or dare, and tell each other jokes.
The memories of Daniel's mom walking in her white uniform to the car flashing before his eyes made him smile again. He poured himself another glass of water and lay back in his bed, reminiscing his past.
Those were some good times,
he told himself.
The Alexander family was one of the biggest families in Chicago. James Alexander had many siblings. Whenever James and Myrtle hosted parties, their entire house would be packed with people. They played sixties and seventies music and danced to it. Antiquated Afros were in fashion, so most of the men and women in the family went for that look, like Myrtle.
Since James had such a big extended family, Daniel and his brothers also had many cousins, and living in the windy city as kids was great. They had a lot of fun whenever they used to meet. They would walk and play near Lake Michigan and parks. In winter, they would chase big trucks, hold on to the trucks' bumpers, and get a ride, pretending to be skiers. Similarly, in summer, they would open up fire hydrants and dance around the flying water.
Eventually, James and Myrtle got a divorce. One day, James came home with a girl named Rose, his girlfriend. It all made sense to Daniel when he saw her. When James picked his sons from school, James would be with Rose, which was how Daniel remembered her. He also remembered how James and Rose would spell words in front of Daniel and his brothers when they didn't want them to understand what they were talking about. Since Daniel and his brothers didn't know any better, they never brought this up to their mom's attention. They never thought their father could do such a thing, yet here he was, with another girl.
Daniel snapped out from his past, turned on his laptop, and jotted down everything he could remember. While writing, he switched to his browser to check his Facebook feed. While scrolling through random videos, one video caught his attention and sent him back to the past. It was a video of kids playing stickball.
In the alleys of Chicago, Daniel, along with his brothers, had competitive matches of stickball with other kids. They used broomsticks to hit the tiny ball to score a goal. Sometimes, someone would pitch little rocks, and they would beat the stones into the designated target to score a point. After James had left, Daniel and his brothers didn't stop having fun. Though they despised him for that, there was nothing they could do about it. Another fun thing they would do was build playhouses using doors from dilapidated buildings. It was dangerous, but no one ever got hurt. The kids were good builders. They did everything every crazy kid would do. However, it wasn't long when they found themselves in trouble.
With that thought, Daniel turned off his laptop, yawned, went to bed, and forced himself to sleep, avoiding the memories. However, Daniel had no control over his thoughts, so he remembered. Even though Daniel had slept, the memories flashed their way into his dream and reminded him how his life changed. Like any other person of color, Daniel found himself in compromising situations when he was young. It took him a little while to become used to everything—the truth about his father, moving to another state, being a responsible eldest son, etc.
As Daniel and his brothers grew older, they were introduced to the ugly side of Chicago. They were already being recruited to join the local gangs in what they called the hood. Daniel had his first knife fight in his dad's house, where his girlfriend's son pulled a knife on him. Daniel was trying to defend himself in his own house against someone he barely knew. What he couldn't fathom was what exactly he had done for that kid to treat him like that. Amid their fight, fortunately, James came home and caught his girlfriend's son attacking Daniel. He couldn't believe what he had just seen and had a meltdown, so he gave him a good beating and told him to stay away from Daniel. And that was just the start of it.
The same night after the fight, Daniel was perturbed and couldn't sleep. Daniel and his brother Deandre slept in bunk beds. Daniel would sleep on the top bunk while Deandre would be on the bottom. He remembered the knife fight and regretted all the moves he could have used against Rose's son to take him down. However, after battling with his thoughts, he finally managed to sleep. The night was cozy. The mellow moonlight was pouring down in the room through the window, and the hooting of owls could be heard. As usual, something bizarre that had been happening with Daniel lately happened again that night. Daniel rolled out of bed and floated down to the floor. He was carried by an angel who put him to the floor, gently and slowly.
The following day, when Myrtle came into the room, she found Daniel slumbering on the floor. She had a concerned look on her face. How did you get on the floor, Daniel?
she interrogated. Did you fall? Are you hurt?
No, Mom. An angel caught me when I fell out of bed,
replied Daniel.
I see,
Myrtle replied, totally ignoring what Daniel had just told her.
As a kid, Daniel saw many things that one can expect to see in the supernatural realm. He saw many things appear before his eyes and disappear the next second. One time, a thunderstorm wheezed upon the city. Daniel was standing by the window, looking outside. The rain was pouring down, ricocheting against the floor. Suddenly, he saw an image that looked like a cowboy, and with another stroke of lightning, it disappeared.
This began to happen often with Daniel. He became pretty used to these events. Another time, Daniel was rushed into the hospital when he was five years old. For some odd reason, his heart had stopped beating. Everyone was crying because he was dead for fifteen minutes from what he heard when he grew up. It was a miracle that he regained consciousness. When Daniel woke up, he told everyone about his experience. It wasn't an NDA (near-death experience) but actual death. When Daniel woke up, although he didn't say it to anyone, he saw petite angels flying around him. They were dressed in white and had curls resting on their shoulders. However, the doctors announced that Daniel had a hole in his heart, but unusually, it was healing itself. So he was cured without going under surgery, which allowed him to continue with his life.
Chicago was a speedy pace place to live in, and it impacted the children who lived there. At the age of six and eight, Daniel and his brother Deandre had experienced relationships in romance and experimented with kissing and cuddling. Parents didn't watch their kids like the way they watch them today. The crime rate was almost zero back then, and only in some rare cases was there a missing person's report. Since it was a safe place, parents would allow their kids to be far away from them, allowing them to try things.
Because of the liberty the kids were granted in Chicago, the kids also knew what hustling was, and they pitched pennies on the sidewalk. It was a game where they tossed pennies, and whoever's penny landed near the concrete line would win the game. Daniel was a champion in this game. He hustled so much that whenever his mom took him to White Castle, he would always have money to buy extra burgers. At that time, those burgers cost only three cents.
Myrtle always believed in independence, and since she had already granted her kids the liberty to stretch their horizons, she taught her kids how to take busses from a very young age. Daniel and his brother would often take the bus or train to their grandmother's house in Chicago, James Alexander's mom. She was a sweet lady and loved all her grandchildren, even Daniel. Just like James, his mom never made him feel like he didn't belong there. She welcomed him with open arms. She lived on the north side of Chicago, the opposite area from where Myrtle lived.
Since Daniel knew how to use public transport, he would also take Deandre to watch football. One game that was etched on Daniel's mind was when the Chicago White Sox competed against the Giants. That day, their excitement soared so high, Daniel almost spilled his drink on the lady sitting beside him as Deandre laughed. Daniel was exposed to the world at an early age, and it was the best gift Myrtle could give Daniel. It just didn't make him stronger but also smarter. He was always a step ahead compared
