DEDICATION
This book is dedicated to my dear friend Leon, who has shown incredible strength and resilience in the face of adversity. As Leon undergoes his transition from female to male, he has been met with countless challenges and obstacles, including denials of critical medical care. Despite these setbacks, Leon has never wavered in his determination to be his true self.
I am in awe of Leon’s courage, and I am honored to dedicate this book to him. May it serve as a reminder to all who read it that the fight for equality and acceptance is far from over.
INTRODUCTION
As someone who has grappled with questions about my own gender identity, I know firsthand how confusing and conflicting the information online can be. That’s why I decided to create a comprehensive guide to gender identity, expression and true LGBTQIA+ knowledge – something like an encyclopedia that could be referenced by anyone, anywhere, to promote understanding and reduce ignorance.
My vision and goal for the GAL Encyclopedia (Gender and LGBTQIA+ Encyclopedia) is to create a resource that will serve as a valuable reference for people of all back-grounds and fields, from curious individuals to educators and legal professionals. This book is for everyone and every human no matter the sexual or gender preference. Our aim is to provide an exhaustive and precise inventory of all documented genders that have been identified to enhance knowledge and alleviate any disinformation, prejudice, or other negative connotations that may surround them.
Of course, I know that this work won’t be without its challenges. I’ll undoubtedly receive criticism and hate for what I’m doing. But my goal is simple: create the foundation of true knowledge in a single book to quell as much ignorance as I can by bringing accurate and truthful knowledge to the world. Not everything is here yet but I am committed to seeing this effort through, by bringing together individuals from all fields to contribute their expertise and experience to create the most comprehensive guide on Earth. That’s why I need your help so we can create something as legitimately big as the entire movement itself.
As a designer and artist, I’m passionate about presenting information in a clear, legible manner. I believe that a strong foundation is necessary to support more intricate and beautiful creations, and I’m applying this principle on this book. It will be designed to present complex topics in a simple, accessible and neutral way, so that virtually anyone can read and understand it.
By presenting a comprehensive and objective account of each LGBTQIA+ topic, this work seeks to
