Few Ways of Becoming Resilient - Felicita Ashu
Chapter 1
Few Ways of Becoming Resilient
Life can be full of ups and downs, challenges, setbacks, and disappointments, but the key principle comes in on how we handle our issues and how we bounce back from them, and Resilience is the masterpiece. Everyone has a different manner of approach when it comes to bouncing back from traumatic events as well as how to become resilient in life. Being respectful of people’s timeline in becoming better; in other words, respecting their treatment phase and helping them become better versions of themselves is a helpful fuel towards building their resilience. This book will serve as a guide on how to become resilient in life, and mind you that it takes into consideration the variety of traumas in life, as well as the timeframes everyone may need to bounce back.
First, we will talk about the issues that may cause some people to experience trauma, and thereafter, we will examine scenarios as to how resilience is subjective to each personality as well as groups and how people use their traumas to build resilience in life. Some common traumas in our society today exist from a range of factors such as Divorce, Instability in life, financial loss, Relationship Saga, Mental health disorders, Family feuds, Stressors at work, Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Complex Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder, Post-Partum Depression and Mood Swings. All of these are a few stressors that will require resilience building blocks, but they are not limited to what is on this list.
Chapter 2
Divorce
For starters, divorce is one of the rampant causes of trauma in our society today; it is like a game of pawns. People are gradually getting to a point where they barely have any level of tolerance, and this is skyrocketing to different levels. Couples find it hard to compromise, make allowance for each other’s faults; everyone is bent on satisfying their own interest, and hence, the basis for love in marriage is often questioned. When the feeling of distrust settles in marriages, then there is room for adultery and a wide gap for trauma to invade the couple’s mind. Some couples experience traumas differently, and their response is totally subjective. For example, a wife of a husband might react towards an unfaithful partner by snubbing her spouse, withholding her duties and rights as a spouse just so as to prove her point and express how she feels. Trauma is vented in diverse ways; some might go into a depression mood in which they find it hard or impossible to drive out from. In this regard, one of the best alternatives for building resilience is to communicate with your spouse by expressing how and why you feel that way. Secondly, for the sake of your vows, fix what you have left; nothing is worth breaking if it is worth fixing; thirdly, forgive each other and work at expressing your vulnerability to each other. These are various ways you can build resilience. Couples therapy Is also great, but marriage is centered on two people with GOD
at the center. We live in a society where people get their validations from third parties, such as social media, people, friends, and family. Don’t get me wrong, external support is important, but what about the main support? God! Talk to God about your spouse before you talk to any human being. Remember, you are not perfect, and so is your spouse, but the two of you are imperfect humans working on becoming better versions of yourselves.
Chapter 3
Instability in Life
Another factor that might result in trauma will be considered as instability in life. What are some things which cause instabilities in our society today? You can agree with me one of them will be people who fluctuate from one job to the other, people who find it hard to deal with challenging situations, and worse still, people who cannot take No
for an answer. I consider the latter as childish and not smart to even talk about. There are many instabilities in life, and you can narrow down a few for yourself, but I will talk based on the above-mentioned. We live in a society whereby people are entitled to always getting things done at a certain time frame, and when delay approaches, they get upset. People get easily frustrated at jobs to the point that they quit and get other jobs but still have the same productivity as the previous job. Life is full of ups and downs, as I mentioned earlier; well, what matters is how you handle your affairs. One thing I am certain of is what goes around, comes around,
KARMA. It really isn’t something I like to dwell on, but it’s the truth, and it's bitter for the most part. You cannot expect to do something over and over and expect a different result.
Well, here is a way you can become resilient if you ever find yourself experiencing instabilities in life. These instabilities will be subject to every life situation; it will depend on how you choose to apply the resilience. With regards to instability, pause for a second and ask yourself what the driving force is behind your action. Secondly, figure out why you are easily frustrated towards being patient with a task; thirdly, learn the details of using passion in everything you do. Passion is the driving force towards anything successful. If you have the willpower, then you have the success. Avoid procrastination because it only mounts up a heap of disappointments.
